Had to go get more primer paint and such for room and also stopped by the recycle center thrift store, where I got 4 boxes of jars w/lids, a nice 2fthx4ftw oak framed mirror, wool blanket for the car, (Started snowing and the dogs were lookin' like Pupsickles!) Huge dustpan(Gotta clean up the floor of craft room) AND a Gretch inspired chair/stool!!! All for $9!! LOVE it! I'd show ya pics but I barely made it home with the snow coming down, had to park my car at the niebors, and haul my groceries and paint home, so left the other goodies in the car...where DH won't notice them...

Today we went to a gardening yard sale of a friend who is moving. I scored a very long plant stand that I've wanted a long time for the porch, and three very large terracotta planters (she buys good quality stuff) on which to go crazy with mosaic. I can't wait until I have time to mosaic again. When they finished renovating our basement bathroom they left oodles of sanded ground and said they'd bring the rest of left over ground from any project by instead of throwing it away!
Free grout for life!

Well, hengal, not to be one who likes to say "I've got a story better than that...." BUT....Today I went to Lowes, NOT TO BUY PLANTS, but I went to the clearance area to look anyway. While I was considering a marked down clematus, someone yelled at me from the front "Anything there for a dime!" I thought she was kidding, even checked with the cashier to be sure the yeller had the authority to say that. She did indeed! I got 13 perrienials for $1.30 including red daylilies, coral bells, 2 clematis, 2 unusual coreopsis, 2 containers of pink fountain grass....other things that I can't remember. AND, as I was paying I heard that same manager telling the staff they had to "get rid of lots of this stuff". I asked if that meant she would be doing other drastic markdowns and she said yes! So as others have said, Never hurts to check it out! Maybe your Lowes is doing the same! Doing the happy dance in west Ky!

napagirl, I live in New England (western Massachusetts to be exact). I will admit that this style piece is unusual around these parts, which is probably why it was priced so cheaply. Someone picked it up cleaning out an estate, didn't even know that it had a french style so had no idea how to optimize it in the description. It is truly a lovely piece, even prettier than the pic shows--perfectly proportioned (the back is fully finished and beautiful in itself!). Valinsv--I agree about the crazy way people list items. I've come to realize that most people just don't know what they have, and the real treasures are usually hidden behind listings such as "sitting chair", "wood trimmed chair", etc. Unfortunately, this means "searching" on Craig's List is often not as fruitful as just opening up any listing that looks remotely like something you could use. My local CL just had a "classic couch" that was in fact a very nice, camelback, down-filled incredible looking piece for FREE! BTW, thanks everyone, for your nice comments. It is so much fun "collecting" things the way I do (and even more fun to be able to share it with others who appreciate it, because most of my friends and family just think I'm nuts!).

Thank you..good to know I'm not alone keeping treasures in the car...right now, I have a wooden ironing board, 4 vases, a box of dishes, a tin mailbox, and other unidentified stuff rolling around......until I can get them to my shed............and DH doesn't know......soul secrets! LOL...

Speaking of rolling around...Bowling balls...ya just can't seem to keep em quiet, ya know what I mean??lol! No matter how I pack em, they just seem to manage to roll free before I'm home.Ha! GGG: Excellent scores!!! Oh I so wanna get this room done and get to the good stuff: CRAFTING!!!
