Advice Pictures of Sliding Glass Door Treatments
Comments (2)You have many choices for a patio door; panel trak, vertical soft shade (vertical with sheer fabric over it) or if your doing cellular shades a vertical cellular might be nice. I would post pics if I knew how but I listed a link where you can see pics of all. Here is a link that might be useful: Patio Door Solutions...See MoreNeed pics of trim--door/window combo...
Comments (5)gregincal, thank you for the picture. I'm looking for ideas--worst case scenario, I trim the window and door individually, with 2" wide trim, and leave a 3" strip of painted wall between. The door and window, on the mudroom side, are trimmed that way (the trim was already attached to the exterior door frame), and it looks OK. I can replace the picture-frame molding around the window, adding a filler piece at the top. Or, I can leave the trim as is--the top of the window trim lines up with where the top piece of door trim will start. Although none of the other windows or doors in the house have 'beading', I could add a bull-nosed bead (as in your example), then molding above that, spanning the window and door, as you suggest. catbuilder, thanks for the advice. Sorry about the poor quality, back-lit picture--sun was streaming in the mudroom windows this AM. I'm going to try to come up with a solution that doesn't involve moving the window up. The trim isn't consistent from room-to-room, so this can be unique. lavender, do you mean a wood valance (as was common over sinks in 50's kitchens), or a fabric valance? We've never had a window treatment there--it faces the back yard and barn, southern exposure, and I like all the light coming in. I may use a filler piece on top, which I think is what you're suggesting, then put trim along the bottom, as in eastfallsglass' pic, to balance it. Thank you. Any one else with pictures? Thanks!...See MoreMarvin Sliding French Door vs. Sliding Patio Door
Comments (4)I would call in another Marvin Dealer as if you were starting from scratch. Have them come in for a consult and a second estimate. Ask the question and see what he/she says. Even if you’re happy with the first dealer, dealers can charge differently so at least you’ll have something to compare apples to apples with. I actually have two appointments scheduled for Sunrise windows next week, but I’m not actually sure which dealer I’ll end up with. I have to say though both my mother and my sister had the french doors installed. They weren’t Marvins but they were extremely happy with that style....See MoreLarge Window Nightmare - 11' treatment with sliding door and steps
Comments (4)Thanks for responding - 1. I thought about this, but people can see into my bedroom from above so no they should be covered 2. I want to show off the tall ceilings and I think breaking up the top and bottom wouldn't look as good. I considered doing both shades (rollers or similar) AND curtains so that I could roll them down just to cover the top and have the sliding doors open through the curtains in nice weather- you think that would work? 3. Both, but even something light so I'm not in full view would do 4. Not really required but I would go for opaque fabrics to help the cause Another option I considered is using privacy film or glass frost on the windows and forgo the dressings completely which is the easy way out, but the cost is having no view lol......See Moreforhome0122
