Help Need Advice Ideas Landscape Front House
Comments (25)yes, it is heavier. This house is similar to the house the DH and I just sold. It had a raised concrete patio in front of the house. I didn't know how to landscape in front of that PIA :o) and I don't know how to landscape in front of this one either. I don't know how this owner feels about their patio, but I didn't want plants large enough that they would obscure the view. Also didn't want the predictable symmetry of two same-size pyramidal evergreens on each side of the house. As I said above, I'm no designer. I'm just playing around with pictures, trying to keep reality in mind. To be real honest, if it were me, I'd never plant the large shrub by the corner of the house, just because I'm onery and it's one of those things that "everybody" does, so I wouldn't! That, and we had to cut down two at our previous home 'cuz they had grown to well over 30 feet high. Needless to say that they dwarfed our little ranch/tract home, a house that already sat on a hill. It was atrocious. Anyhow, thanks for the notice re: balance or lack thereof. I'll leave that to the homeowner, but I would love a suggested solution to landscaping around those darned patios. I don't have one anymore, but I'd still like to know. Moon...See MoreHelp! I need to modernize my home's exterior(paint color+stone dillema
Comments (16)of the colors you have in your photo, try the likeable sand. I think it would blend better with the stone. Paint the front door a fun welcoming color, but paint the garage door the color of the house. I like your home, too. Congratulations. you have plenty of time to play with color til spring and painting/ planting weather arrive . enjoy....See MoreHelp! 30 years in same house need advice on Family Room
Comments (3)In the shelves directly below the top shelf of your shelves - I'd love to see a vase with lots of turquoise stems (Michaels craft store). Those shelves can easily house a larger and fuller arrangement. They look sparse now. You have the beautiful turquoise plate in front of the fireplace, but I don't see that color anywhere else in the room. The blue in the rug is beautiful also. I think your room needs a lot more color. The print that you have on the wall across the room from the fireplace - I'd love to see a print with a lot of that turquoise there as well....See MoreHELP! Comments (15)Good question...That space is actually not that big in real life. We'll likely put the 2 chairs with a table in between that we have in the sunroom now. We may end up with a moveable island in the "butler's pantry" -- agree, it's more of an extended kitchen space. But we can reuse the same cabinets so it will be low cost and extra storage since we'll have less in the main kitchen area. Moving the bathroom was deemed to be more than $10k, and creates a lot more complexity in the project. I am intrigued by that idea, but I think that will actually make the house feel smaller since that will create more of a closed off hallway from our utility room....See MoreRiskers
