Phone files not showing

Windows 10 computer, Moto G4 phone. File Explorer recognizes phone, but that is all. No files are shown at all. I would like to transfer pictures from the phone to my computer. What am I missing, or what do I need to do other than connecting with a USB cable?

Does computer have Bluetooth ?

Bunch of Moto cellphones here, all have Bluetooth that will connect to computer.

I use the 'Asus File Manager' on all my moto's. It can send files to anything its connected to fairly easily.

addidtionally;

If you install the windows OneDrive app on your moto, you can send pictures to it. My phone cams are set to automatically do that.

Which you can access them from your OneDrive on your computer or access online with the web too with a browser and even give others a link to it/them.

Thank you. Had not considered using Bluetooth connection. One Drive sounds like an easy way to transfer pictures.

Thanks bob I was looking for the dates to show on the screen on the open folder like my other files I can change the order from most rec dte etc without opening or doing the right click is it because I am using XP?

I think you are looking for the spec book. I got mine from the KD at Lowes. They usually have extras laying around as they get updated manuals every 3 months. If they don't have any extra spec books, you can go at any time without an appoinment and work on your own. Just ask them for the Schuler spec book and sit at the desk. My KD did not give it to me until she trusted I was committed to buying from there. Schuler can do almost any modification that you need so you can probably plan your kitchen based on standard cabinets and go from there. The sizes are standard in 3 inch increments. And yes, they are higher quality than Kraftmaid. When I got my Schuler cabinets at Lowes last Feb, plywood was standard construction. If plywood is no longer standard, I think the cabinet boxes themselves are similar but Schuler can do more modifications. I had a Kraftmaid kitchen in my house 5 years back and Schuler's quality is better. Also, I asked for 10% off the price when I was about to order. The manager at Lowes said okay right away. I would be wary of Lowes installers since that seems to be where people run into problems. Of course, there are good ones too, but you are playing roulette. Good luck. I would mail you my book but I am working on 2 bathrooms and I am using Schuler again. They are great!

DD and I were at a show on Broadway last year and the fellow in front of us was using his phone to record some of the songs. Then he'd play it back when the actors on stage were talking. I just leaned over and politely asked if he would turn his phone off because the glare and sound were distracting. His wife looked at him and said 'I told you so' - then he shut it off. I have no qualms about finding an usher and asking them to deal with it. When we're at a concert or movie I just turn my phone off. I can always walk to the lobby to check if necessary. I attended a funeral last month in church and I was curious if they would ask the congregation to turn off their phones before the service began. They didn't and a phone did go off - it was on vibrate and I'm guessing it was in someone's back pocket because you could clearly hear the sound of the phone vibrating on a hard surface. i guess the owner didn't want to draw any additional attention to themselves and they just sat there - while the phone vibrated away. And then about 10 minutes later the same phone vibrated again.

Sometimes there's a setting that pops up on the phone when connecting to a PC asking a question like "Use the connection to charge only or attach as a Media device (or portable drive) ?".

Try the connection again and see if you see it.

One Drive isn't a solution for the connection. You need the PC to recognize the phone as a storage device first - then whether you put the photos into a C drive folder or upload to a storage site is a different matter entirely.

Unfortunately, nothing is showing on the phone except that it is charging; yet the phone is listed in Files Explorer. I have a manual for the phone which instructs to open Settings>Storage>Menu:>USB computer connection>Mass Storage. Unfortunately, these instructions are for MS operating systems up through Win 7. When I open Settings>Storage>Menu, then I cannot find "USB computer connection>Mass Storage." So I'm sort of puzzled by this. I never had this problem with my HTC phones in the past. I guess Moto is sort of a budget phone. Still I should be able to make the connection via USB cable.

I will try enabling Bluetooth on my computer and connect that way, since I connect with my car via Bluetooth.

After you've connected the phone to the computer, on the phone swipe down from the top of the "home" screen. You'll get a list of USB options that will vary slightly depending on the version of Android you have. Choose the one that says transfer files. Windows will probably pop something up asking what do what to do with the device, just ignore that and go into Window Explorer and navigate to your device. From there you can copy/paste just like a regular hard drive or flash drive.
