Sink advice for teeny half bath
Comments (2)I hope pedestal sinks aren't out of style. I just ordered one from Toto for my master bath renovation! You shouldn't have any difficulty finding a stylish sink in a pedestal or wall mount style. I suspect you may be far more limited by what I think is the very small size of the sink that will fit. You may need to just start googling. But yes, I think you can put in a pedestal or wall mount and look up to date. Sorry I can't be more help with specifics. I keep reading that larger tiles make a room look bigger, so I would put in the largest floor tile you can find that you like and doesn't look ridiculous, laid on the diagonal if you want it to look even bigger. But I would definitely do tile of some kind, not vinyl again, unless you're going for a very specific sort of retro look. Definitely a round, not elongated, toilet, no matter what the salespeople tell you about how much more comfortable the elongated is. And, depending on the exact configuration of the sink, I'd be careful about the height of the toilet. Some of them now come higher, sometimes called right height, I think. It's supposed to be easier on aging knees, etc, but if there's an issue with tall people needing to tuck their knees under the sink, you don't them to be sitting up too high to do that....See MoreNeed quick advice on where to plant tree!
Comments (13)I have to tell you my house doesn't look like that anymore. That picture and the ones with it are from before I bought the house. It's very different now. Even the front has changed very much. The saw isn't mine either, Linda, it's the previous owners. If you want to see what my sunroom looks like you have to go to the main page and then to album 8. The front yard is totally changed, every tree out there is gone, along with the juniper under the big window. All the new trees are in and I'm watering them, raking up little tree branches from the old pear tree so I can mow. I didn't realize the whole yard has been covered in them all winter. Oh, and the backyard is different too, the weeping cherry is about five times bigger and there's no longer a pool and deck. There was another Bradford pear out there behind the outbuilding that broke in another ice storm right after I moved in. I'm also going to have to take out the big redbud, half of it is laying in the yard right now, it's even blooming. ) :...See MoreNeed quick advice! Hate filler used on wall cabinet installation
Comments (43)Deedles-I am so new to this stuff but I'll try to give you the cabinet dimensions. It is a slaller sized U kitchen- so starting on the left is a 12" wall cabinet and 12" base drawers, then 30 inch stove and 30 inch cabinet above, 15 inch upper cabinet, 21 inch easy reach corner cabinet, and then another 15 inch cabinet.Underneath is a 36 inch easy reach base cabinet. Then the 36 inch base cabinet for the sink with window above. To the right of the window is a 30 inch and 15 inch uppers. The 15 inch cabinet has a side access door instead of an end panel. On the lowers is a 36 inch super lazy susan, (part of peninsula), dishwasher, and 18 base drawers. To gain more storage, we also added three 21 inch lower cabinets and a 12 inch corner cabinet on the table side of the peninsula. We had to extend the wall 8 inches to make room for this. We have the table on the eat-in side of the peninsula. That area has an 8 1/2 foot opening into a large 28 x 40 family room. It use to be just over a 9 ft opening but this is where we extended the back kitchen wall. In hte kitchen are between the cooling area and the refrigerator wall is a door that leads into our study/computer room. Hope this helps :)...See MoreQuick help! Which way to lay rectangular tile near wood flooring?
Comments (10)When we redid our long, narrowish galley kitchen and adjacent laundry room we also used 12x24 tiles. I could have gone either way since our surrounding wood floor is on a diagonal. Our tile guys recommended it go lengthwise (bowling alley) saying that is how they would lay hardwood in the room. I laid tile out both ways and agreed with them. I think the only time you get the "it makes the room look wider" is when it's laid on the diagonal. Can you lay some tile out in both directions next to the hardwood? Personally, I think it looks better going in the same direction as the wood floor, but it's really a personal preference. BTW, our tile is laid in a 3/4 offset pattern like in your last picture....See Morecpartist
