House/window color -- white/white or white/black?
Comments (7)Black. Its more period and no matter what you do in the future will always look good. Dark sashes improve the appearance of the windows as negative space on the facade. Black interior sashes also practically disappear when you look out the window (try it - look out a white framed window and a black framed window - see which one you notice and which one is practically not there.) Finally, white tends to look cheap - vinyl-looking, as you said. And why let a vinyl window company decide what color your windows are for you? I got a feeling youll get white from the way your post was written ......See MoreWhat color for gutters? Match roof, house or trim?
Comments (9)This is something that has always boggled my mind. There were no gutters on the houses in my area as the roofs were supposed to be sloped so that they would not be needed, very tall roofs, many angles to them. After a few of the residents had termites secondary to water damage, and while some others had water damage only, we decided to add gutters. Argh. We have Georgia clay brick and very little trim as the sides of the house have quoins and they do not place shutters on some of the houses with them at the corners, sides and in the window area. Our trim is a light gray color and our two shutters are black as is the area over the paladian window over the front door. Not much going on except brick and I have not yet found a color that quite looks like Georgia clay....See MoreAdvice needed for gutters/shutters on a white brick house
Comments (10)Thanks everyone for your comments. I think those grey/green shutters could be an option for us. I like the look of darker gutters (not black, more iron ore or copper), but starting to think that the uneven gutter coverage on the front of the house will just look odd unless we also do dark trim on the peaks of the house. Since we want to avoid painting the trim it might just be easier to go with white and add color/character via shutters...See MoreBlack or white gutters??
Comments (6)That question is dealt with one your other post as for gutters they are IMO not a design element so a color that is the same as the trim or the house which ever makes them the less visible...See MoreDLM2000-GW
