a blender for blenderizing fruits and vegetables
Comments (6)Ooops, I have a 3 digit blender - the Vitamix. Just got it this summer at a Costco roadshow as our old $40 blender just couldn't do what we needed it to. It couldn't crush ice, couldn't pulverise vegetables, smoothies were lumpy not smooth yada yada. I've used the Vitamix daily since I got it. Today I made a strawberry/pineapple/spinach/ice smoothie, ground rice into flour and mixed a sald dressing. I usually make at least one smoothie a day - sometimes 2 or three. Obviously I am biased so I looked as Cooks Illustrated's reviews of blenders last reviewed in July 2006. Products They tested: (listed alphabetically) * Braun PowerMax Jug Blender * Cuisinart Smartpower Premiere * Emerilware * Jenn-Air Attrezzi * KitchenAid Pro Line ChefÂs Blender * L'Equip R.P.M. * Vita-Mix 5000 * Waring 2-Speed MegaMix Specialty * Waring Pro PBB For copyright reasons I can't reprint the report here (you have to be a subscriber) but here's the short version: Their Conclusion? Until a markedly better blender comes along, they'll stick with their Best Buy model for the usual blender tasksÂand rely on a food processor for everything else. The winner was the L'Equip R.P.M. with a MSRP of $134.99 but I don't think it's available any more. Also CI is biased AGAINST high priced items. It did rate the Vitamix as best smoothie maker though and that was the older model....See MoreStick blender
Comments (20)I've had various ones and most worked for a long time. This last time I dropped, cracked and broke mine and wanted another one soon. Christy happened to go to CVS that day and saw this $5 one, figuring it would work until he maybe got me another good one. That was last spring and it's still going strong.lol. Today Chris Kimball happened to tweet the Cook's Country immersion blender test results. Winner is only $25 Here is a link that might be useful: Immersion Blenders...See MoreAnyone here have the Hoover Linx Stick Vac?
Comments (5)Yes, I have the Hoover. I agree that it's pricey, but the benefits outweigh the cost. I found that the suction is pretty good for a cordless and it affords me the opportunity to do quick clean-ups without dragging out the heavier vacuum. I also like the way the two settings for the beater bar allow me to use it on both carpeting and bare floors. The design and location of the dirt cup also makes it easy to empty and clean up after each use. The battery lasts for about 15-20 minutes, so it motivates me to work quickly. I found mine at Walmart, but Target has it at a comparable price....See MoreDo you own a cordless stick blender?
Comments (8)I don't know if this is the same model as yours, but the information will probably still apply. https://www.cuisinart.com/share/pdf/manuals/csb-78.pdf SHORT RUN TIMES If after repeated use the run time seems to get shorter and the hand blender has less power, it may not be the result of a faulty unit. This condition can be remedied by allowing the Cuisinart® Smart Stick PLUS® Cordless Rechargeable Hand Blender to run until it stops. Then recharge the unit for 24 hours for a new charge. This procedure improves the batteries’ capacity. You may need to repeat this a few times for the best results...See Moredcarch7 d c f l a s h 7 @ y a h o o . c o m
