Cordless stick blender, anyone?

Has anyone had a chance to try the Breville or Cuisinart cordless immersion blenders?

I have a friend who's considering Prius camping for several months who asked if I knew anything about it. I didn't even know that living in a Prius was a Thing, but it's been interesting learning about how people cook out of one.

Actually, Full discharge of Li-ion batteries is not advisable:

"--4: Avoid completely discharging lithium-ion batteries

If a lithium-ion battery is discharged below 2.5 volts per cell, a safety circuit built into the battery opens and the battery appears to be dead. The original charger will be of no use. Only battery analyzers with the boost function have a chance of recharging the battery.

Also, for safety reasons, do not recharge deeply discharged lithium-ion batteries if they have been stored in that condition for several months.--"

I had a Cuisinart cordless blender and hated it. It only had one speed, very little power, and the battery became unchargeable after a while. They may have improved them since then, but I am still avoiding them.

I suppose if you are camping, it might be useful, but that would be the only case - except for power outage. You still have to plug them in to keep them charged, and mine ran out of charge rather quickly.

The L.A. Times food section often includes an article in which a group of kitchen experts rate different brands of a specified gadget or appliance. A while ago they examined stick blenders and concluded that the Kitchenaid was superior in design and performance. If I recall correctly, the reviewers touted KitchenAid's larger size to be a plus for an immersion hand blender. We purchased one based on their comments and have been very happy with it. We've used it for soups, sauces, even milkshakes. The other night we even used it to make fresh bread crumbs, which came out a bit finer than we had wanted but still perfectly okay. I've had various ones and most worked for a long time. This last time I dropped, cracked and broke mine and wanted another one soon. Christy happened to go to CVS that day and saw this $5 one, figuring it would work until he maybe got me another good one. That was last spring and it's still going strong.lol. I use one all the time. You only need to blend it once or twice until it is well blended. If you blend it continuously, or a lot after it has thickened, it will burn out. I buy extras at second hand stores and garage sales.

This condition can be remedied by allowing the Cuisinart® Smart Stick PLUS® Cordless Rechargeable Hand Blender to run until it stops. Then recharge the unit for 24 hours for a new charge. Cordless tools have seen a lot of advances in recent years. Thanks to cell phones and electric cars, RC (radio controlled) toys (drones), battery and motor technologies are very much improved.

At this point you can find extremely useful cordless electric tools. Today most of the power tools construction contractors use are cordless.

Many of my tools in my shop and garden are cordless. I just bought a cordless leaf blower that is more powerful than one powered by a gas engine.

If my regular blender dies, I would probably look for a cordless one.

BTW, alway look for one that is powered by Lithium-ion batteries.

And discharge the battery completely on occasion before recharging.lithium ion battery

Thanks, dcarch and linda. Linda, I thought newer batteries didn't require that anymore? Anyway, since most of the blenders I've looked at have a max of 20 min blend time before recharging it wouldn't be hard to do.
