You're welcome! It's not odd that cooler zones will report more fragrance from many than warmer areas. Those in the cooler places are probably smelling them when the oils and alcohols are most volatile and smell the most. We in the warmer areas often miss out because they evaporate faster as the heat increases. Also, as aridity increases, the scents burn out faster. The various components of each rose's fragrance evaporate at different rates, so one may smell very Damask at first, quickly morphing into orris or citrus, finishing a completely different scent before losing any detectable trace for the day. I'd guess she prefers a warm climate, then, 'cause I've had mine for about 8 years and have no complaints. I do have a weakness for red/yellow blends, though, as evidenced by 2 Rio Sambas and 3 Autumn Splendor in one bed. The first JG I saw was some 6ft wide by about 3.5 ft tall. Mine has never gotten that wide probably due to tree roots.

A double graft is NOT A BLEND!!!! ARRRRGH!!!!! (this wasn't targeted to you evie). I wish these folks would not continue to confuse people! A double graft is just that, two different roses grafted onto the same rootstock (I guess that would make it three roses, but I'm just halfway through coffee...). Star Roses shows Dream Come True and Rainbow Sorbet in their catalog available as standards (tree). J&P has Mardi Gras available in standard form. In standard form, the grafted roses will have a similar habit as it does in bush form. If the bush form of Rio Samba blooms one per stem (usually) and the canes are upright, then it will do the same grafted as a standard.

I grow Angel Face and Judy Garland, but my climate is quite a bit cooler than yours usually. Last year we did have several week of temps in the nineties reaching a few times to above 100, but I'm still sure nothing like the harshness of your climate. Since I grow all my roses in pots I admit I may be simply inclined to recommend them, but really for these two roses in that climate I would. Angel Face has the reputation for being something of a delicate little thing, slow to grow and requiring some pampering. If you do put them in pots, you can move them around till you find a place they can be happy. Be sure you can water them every day. I'm going to further advise, against the common rules, that maybe the soil in their pots be a bit more mosture-retentive than is usually recommended for roses.
