Powder room with dog theme just got its final touch (from France!)
Comments (28)Well, hamamelis, you and 'justerrilynn' above WIN. All of the colors are nice, but a few other cyber friends voted for the 'Black on Brown'. I ran upstairs and took it off the closet door and held it up by the mirror, and it was quite striking. Plus, I wouldn't have believed this possible, but I seem to have a new appreciation for neutrals, as shown in the powder room above, which looked like THIS before I painted and changed the decor. Before I ordered the wallpaper, I wanted to look in my fabric stash to see if I had any fabrics on hand to make a window treatment with, and that sealed the decision. :-) I know that my pic below doesn't show the true colors, but for summer, the linen check on the right is great with it, and the center fabric at bottom, P Kaufmann Colburn Check in 'charcoal', and the black and cream one on the right would be great for winter - like a cozy flannel shirt! The stripe at top is also good, but quite heavy, so I'll save that for something else....See MoreHelp putting finishes touches on powder room remodel
Comments (0)Hoping you can help put the finishing touches on the remodel of this powder room. I've posted a before photo along with current photos. The bathroom was in really bad shape. I had a custom floating vanity put in, made of quartz. Moved the faucet to be wall mounted; Moved the lighting from the wall to a ceiling pendant; removed an old, rotting mirror and exchanged it out for this round, modern mirror. Also, had the walls skim coated and re-painted along with new marble flooring put in. Still need to put in new baseboard. My question for you guys is: 1) What do I put above the toilet. I've been considering adding a new, modern, cabinet (black). Would you do a closed, wall cabinet or open shelving? Here is an inspirational photo I found of a wall cabinet that I thought might look great above the toilet. Is it too much? 2) Also, any suggestions to dress up the bland white walls? Picture frames or décor ideas would be greatly appreciated. Before photo: Thanks in advance for your help! :)...See Morefinishing touches on “Great Room” & fireplace
Comments (4)I cannot make out what is around the fireplace opening. It looks like there are some marble slab pieces just floating there with some drywall. Can you post a higher resolution picture closer to the fireplace so we can make out the details. The Mantel is beautiful, but the fireplace does not fit the proportions of the mantel. Is it a direct vent gas fireplace with a sealed glass front? Also, are you keeping the hearth? I see it has a "B" in the center, which seems rather intentional. Here's a mockup that helps bring some things back into proportion. Just using marble slab like what is already there, but made to fit the whole fireplace. Unfortunately, this type of screen will sit right on top of the "B". Just thought I'd throw this together to start the conversation....See MorePowder room: finishing touches
Comments (8)I think you could absolutely just put up a nicely framed mirror and have a beautiful powder room. Personally I'm a sucker for cute pivot mirrors. This shape reminds me a little bit of your hexagon tile. But if you want to add a little more with wallpaper, I think that would look great too! Or you could just hang some art either over the toilet or on the wall between the toilet and vanity....See MoreReemanu
