Finishing touches for powder room
Comments (29)Jodie - I love those sconces! Where are they from? How fun and different?? Maybe I will keep them in mind for the dining room. Just to clarify - the wallpaper in the bedroom photo is a different color than the one we selected. AprilNeverEnds - thank you for all the options! I am not sure on width - what makes sense in this space? I love the modern look of the first one, but I should have mentioned I have 4 year old twins that use this powder room more often than I prefer and their cute little fingerprints would constantly be all over the chrome / mirror vanity. I love the clean looks of all the options you picked. The last option is spooky and definitely in theme with this month ;) We want to stay under $600 if possible because this redo is part of a much larger home transformation so saving pennies where we can. As for why recessed and not a flushmount - I prefer a much more sleek clean look overall and I didn't want too much going on with cool sconces and an overhead light fixture. Also - I struggle to make decisions and didn't want one more thing I had to pick out and coordinate with overall design of powder room. We currently have flushmounts throughout our home hallways and I struggled to find something that would coordinate with out entry foyer. In the end we have decided to convert all of those to simple sleek recessed lights....See MoreHelp with powder room finishing touches!
Comments (15)Are we talking "gold" or "polished brass" ? Not the same thing at all but many of the young use the term interchangeably. I used polished brass in a guest room bath as it has and antique footed tub and antique footed basin out of an old local hotel. It looks right. In master bath, I used polished nickel- again it just looks right in this 1948 house, First for full bath has polished chrome as that was what was in the tub and I was not gutting the entire bath - just new toilet, basin with legs and wallpaper....See MoreWhat's missing in my living room? Comments (21)Someone said: I believe the Houzz experts (and I am NOT one!) suggest the TV be 2/3 the width of the TV cabinet. No no no no no. The TV cabinet needs to be at least 25% wider than the TV. Wider is always better. There is no minimum size for the TV. Do not hang that guitar between the windows. Do not hang anything between the windows. Your curtains are perfect. Hang the guitar on the wall just left of the TV, get some art for over the sofa, and add just a touch more red to echo the arc lamp (which is tres cool, BTW). You've done a great job so far. You've got this....See MoreFinishing touches on living room reno…
Comments (5)What a beautiful space. You did a great job! If it were my home, I'd forgo the mantel and would add shelves above the cabinets - but it looks like there is not enough room at the edge of the window to do that on the left. Not sure I'd add shelves on one side only. If there is a way to design shelves to work with the window, that would be my choice....See MoreUser
