I suppose it could be Tall Fescue - I do have some in my yard. But this patch grows much more slowly and stays much shorter than my Tall Fescue. Would that mean this is PRG?

I haven't been able to tell if it spreads. Based on the responses here I've researched fine fescue and it seems to match... Low maintainence, shade tolerant, bright green color. I'll be reseeding / over seeding in the spring, since I missed the fall season. Thanks for the quick ID!!

I think it's usual to cut the grasses down in the spring before the new growth starts. That way you get the ornamental aspect through the winter and I think having the top on protects the plant from the weather a little.

First of all those three grasses are practically indistinguishable from one another unless they have seed heads on them. Secondly it's impossible to see anything when the pictures are taken in full sunlight. The contrast between the sunlight reflections and the deepest shadows prevents any kind of careful inspection. Here's a pair of pictures trying to illustrate the problem. If you could take the pictures again in full shade or on a cloudy day it would be better.
