Several years ago I purchased my first ever tablet. Raven made some recommendations for me to consider and I ended up purchasing one she highly recommended. I have used and loved that tablet every single day for all this time. Boo Hoo! I accidentally knocked it off my desk and the table is a gonner. Have done everything to try to get it to work again. The screen is shattered, the board sort of popped out of the case in places, so the life of this ASUS Transformer TF300T is over. Think it was a purchase in January 2013 from Woot. Certainly been worth the money. Just so sad to see it gone.

Ah, so sorry for the accident.

We have an ASUS Transformer that we use almost exclusively for outings because it has such large screen. We love the way it can be used in tablet or notebook mode.

Yes. Our normal annual rainfall is 35 inches. Last winter we got 66. Perhaps it was trying to make up for the 5 year drought all at once? Of course, the news media and the politicians had declared, after 3-4 years of drought, that it would take 20 years to make up for that, that the reservoirs would take at least a decade to recover, etc. etc. Of course, they were wrong as usual. Last Winter there were flood disasters, and now the Spring runoff from all of the snow is causing more floods, and threatening some of the dams. The reservoirs are all full all over Calif., and the problem they are having is how to release enough water to keep the dams safe, without causing floods downstream, or losing water they might need for next year. 99% of California is officially out of the drought, and even the depleted ground water is coming back. Yes, I have clicker trained horses, dogs and donkeys. When I went to school to be a vet tech, we had to teach a conditioned response to an animal, and I chose a cat, I have always enjoyed training animals. I house sat for five months for a friend....every night I stayed there...came home during the day....and I clicker trained her dog. It was a catahoula and I taught him four tricks in about as many days. I was really impressed with him because we have always had catahoulas....have one now too....and they can be very stubborn dogs. I taught him to touch the target, sit, lie down, and roll over. When I first got my three donkeys, I clicker trained them to back up, to keep them from crowding me when I went in their pasture to feed them. Donkeys are very food oriented and they are extremely easy to train. You can't make a donkey do anything....well, you can try, but they will resist. I offered Mama donkey and her son some peppermint treats. She took them but spit them out. Son...I think I am going to name him Willie....and if the new baby is a male, I will name him Waylon...wouldn't come close enough to take one from my hand. I should have put it in his feed bucket. Snoop loved them. He is extremely food oriented and would probably be easy to train. Poor Emory. I gave him a couple but they fell out of his mouth because he couldn't bite them. I don't believe he is as old as Snoop but his teeth are a whole lot worse. I will take some pics of them tomorrow. My phone needed charging and my digital camera went under water during the flood.

We have a similar beetle here in central CA, the Hoplia Beetle. I hate, hate, hate those little buggers. They start out as grubs in the soil, come out and mess up all my (mostly light) colored roses, doing the nasty and then drop into the soil to start the cycle all over again. They are here for about six weeks and then their cycle is done until next year. I did get great pleasure squishing them and cutting them up with my clippers. It is very therapeutic! I did try beneficial nematodes this year and will spray the soil again in the fall to see if that will help to keep them at bay. They were particularly nasty this year. Between the heat and those blessed beetles, my first flush was pretty much destroyed after waiting with bated breath for it. Here they are destroying a Vick's Caprice bloom. You can see one of them in the upper right damaged part of the mess that they created. Did I mention how much I hate those things?

Awe...that sucks, buuuuuuttttt....(looking for a positive here) a lot has changed in the world of tablets during the past 4-5 years, so maybe it was time for an upgrade anyways.

There are lots of choices, you have the chance to look around.

If this item is used mostly for web browsing and you don't make much use of Android apps, you may be happy with a chromebook PC. Input is with a keyboard rather than a touchscreen - a plus for some but not necessarily everyone. They're fast, light, inexpensive and easy to use.

In the tablet world, nothing beats an iPad. My wife has one and loves it. I'm not an Apple fanboy at all but iPads are high quality products. Long battery life, long product life, great cameras (for video calls) and access to more apps than you'd ever want to use. No electronic product like a tablet can be expected to survive a drop to a hard floor (unless in a shock-proof case) but iPads are durable in normal use. I have some family members whose kids use an ipad that I think is over 6 years old. It's in a protective case and has had some bumps and grinds but it still works very well.

I'm sorry it happened to you. I'd recommend a case for your next one. Mine has hit the floor more than once and survived with no ill effects.
