Oh, What a Feeling...To Have a Painted Ceiling
I've been chatting with some ceilings, and they told me that they are sick and tired of being ignored and left pale white. Whether painted one color, covered in wallpaper, or decorated with a mural, the ceiling is a great and often ignored design opportunity. So look up and consider the possibilities.
Can you believe this kitchen is in a dark corner that doesn't get much natural light? The bright yellow ceiling has the power of the sun!
These stripes start off as a painted-on headboard, and then take off and stretch over the room. This move draws your eye to the blue color.
I didn't quite catch this wallpapered ceiling at first glance. It subtly adds character and pattern to this spare space, and connects through to the next room.
There's a great contrast between the exuberant ceiling and the subdued palette in the rest of the room.
Why not catch your guests' attention before they even walk in the door? The beautiful arch in the architecture is enhanced by this painted ceiling.
This ceiling absolutely makes the room. It adds scads of elegance and interest, and works so well with the curved shape. It reminds me of a beautiful art deco train station.
Sometimes you can fool the eye into thinking you're looking up at the heavens while indoors. It makes the space light and airy.
Here the darker tone of the ceiling gives it the illusion of being recessed — it makes it look like there is more architecture here than there actually is.
