do you like the way your hair looks when you leave the salon?
Comments (36)I love the salon that I've been going to since DH & I moved to the county we live in (over 20 yrs). The owner does my cuts, and I have had a few different stylists over the years that apply my color. I've found that the best thing you can do is to take pics of what you like, or want done to your hair (both color and/or haircut style). You can find lots of pics from all sorts of magazines, they don't have to be "hair style" magazines per se. You may see a cut or color that you like in any magazine. The internet is another good source for images or the internet to give your stylist(s) something to work from. My idea of what I want isn't always easy to explain. I have a couple of pages of copy paper with pics stapled to them that I keep at the salon. When I go in for an appointment, the gal at the front desk gets them out for me. When I want to change something with regard to my cut or color, I print a few pics to take with me. That way there is no way that what I "think" I want being lost in translation. Have to say this has been the single best thing I've done to improve getting what I want. There have been times when I've taken in a picture and my colorist or stylist will reel me in with the reality of changing to that particular style. They explain why they feel that the something I see that I want may not work for either my hair texture or shape of my face. Luckily, the people I work with at the salon have a pretty good idea of what I will or won't like, or will or won't be able to deal with on a daily basis:)....See MoreSelling This House is Turning My Hair Gray(er)!!!
Comments (30)frozenelves-- I had the house listed with a 3 different realtors over 3 year period. I received 2 offers from them and at the time they were bottom of the barrel offers so I turned them down. Not to mention, after paying the realtor we would have been upside down due to the low offers. The realtor would have made $18,000 while I walk away with zero, or worse. I just could not do it. We did an original 5year/arm mortgage and in December of last year, we had approached the 5 year mark. Not knowing if the house would sell or not we optioned to refi to avoid the higher payment. The law where I live states you can not have your house 'officially' on the market if you are trying to refi. So we let our contract expire with the realtor and went ahead with the refi. After the refi, I listed it FSBO just to see what would happen. I also lowered the price and took the realtor fees out. Since we had just did the refi, we had to have an appraisal done as such I knew exactly what the house was worth. I posted that as my new selling price and in 8 months, we finally sold. We posted over 200 flyers in our 'info' box over this time. Not once the realtor ever post any info for the 'drive by' customers. They depended on the phone instead. A flyer with detailed info and some really nice pics is what sold our house. That, and the curb appeal. here is a pic of the house Here is a link that might be useful:...See Moregray hair - how can I
Comments (23)I wish my hair would turn that nice bright white that Moni and Glenda enjoy! But, no, I have the same 'grey rat' color along with some pure white that Jan is complaining about. My mother and both grandmothers had that too. I also have a weird clump of my original dark brown that's never lost color; it's right in front, above my right eye. Even if the rest of my hair did turn white, I'd look like a 'reverse skunk', thanks to that stripe. So, until they invent something to make ALL my hair a nice white...I'm at the hairdresser every five weeks, getting my hair colored light brown and inhaling those wicked chemicals....See MoreWinter is coming...(or coloring gray hair ideas?)
Comments (25)There will come a day when I stop coloring my hair, but that day is not here! I am not old enough for what I fear is my natural color. I think it may be white. My grandmother and her sister's hair was white as long as I can remember. They didn't really gray - they pretty much went to white. My sister went gray a couple of years ago and she is 3 years younger than me. I think her hair is probably grayer than mine and still has some dark in it. But still, there have been a few times when people who don't know the both of us, think SHE is the older sister. My hair is dark brown. It's been professionally colored, I think, 3 times. All disasters. My hair is evidently porous and you CANNOT use the dark brown color I used to have on my hair. Every time I've had it done, it's been shoe polish BLACK. I have colored my own hair with box color for years. My hairdresser can't believe it and says it looks better than she could do. I do occasionally have it highlighted, but because I use dark blond color on my hair, I can even color myself with highlights. Mt. Nutrisse is a good one. It has an oil additive which makes my hair feel great and lots of shine (which dark hair needs). I have used a gloss when my hair color has looked a bit faded but don't routinely use one. I only color my roots and I will use almond oil or a deep conditioner (on dry hair) on the ends of my hair to keep color from grabbing. I massage the color into the whole head of hair the last 5 - 10 minutes, usually not leaving it on a full 10 minutes. Good luck!...See MoreBonnie
