Wanda sent me a hand made quilt! picture inside.
Comments (54)That is one special quilt, Kat and one that you so deserve. I'm a quilter wantabe and I know the work and love that went into making that beautiful quilt. Wanda, your gift to Kat is so very special and you're a a gem for making it for her. BTW, could I come to your house and just sit and learn? Just thought I'd ask. :) Gale-TX...See MoreThe quilt from heck (sp)
Comments (23)We had the bike ride yesterday. While we were waiting for the riders to get there and sign I was chatting with some of the other ladies in the club (also sewers). I showed them the areas of the quilt I was unhappy with and they both said "that is nothing, you should see some of the thing my machine does". Then it turns out the winner was her husband (purely luck of the draw with rider numbers). She was very happy with it. Then while chatting with some of the riders when they came back in, I found out one of them was familiar with long arms. He agreed with my assessment of my machine and just getting caught up in the transition of ownership. He said a good internal cleaning should help, but since they are coming out with a new Voyager perhaps a deal could be struck for a new one. That was encouraging. beverly...See MoreTaking pix of quilts & quilting
Comments (13)It is a great floor, but is really distracting me from the quilt (sorry). Had to go back, cover the floor w/ my hands to really see what a nice, handsome quilt that is. I DO understand the importance of the floor as a flat surface to take photos on. Perhaps if you can't hang your work to shoot, use a white sheet to cover the floor & then place the quilt on top of it as a white backdrop (similar to suggestion made above about plain background). Then the quilt is all one sees. I discovered by accident this Spring that photographing a quilt outside on grass in the sun really showed the stitching. Was a pleasant surprise, I was shooting pix of my first bed quilt (a twin), largest I'd done, wanted to try all different kinds of shots. I took it to a local park in late afternoon, spreading it on a lawn & took various pix. Got home & worked on the pix to discover they showed the quilting really well. Sorry I don't know how to post a link, it's in my photobucket album. Try acessing: krsternberg don't believe it needs a password. Pls. look for an album called something like "Mom's quilt". Comments (24)Thanks. I was looking at comforter sets because that seemed to have the most options in terms of color and patterns. Is the Chantelle Waterford comforter set that is reversible to all Champagne out completely? We have an old down comforter that had an old duvet cover the dog chewed so I was looking to replace the cover and have something else decorative for the bed with that underneath. I see what you are saying about the shades but they are new and custom and expensive and we cannot replace them and also cannot repaint and order shutters. Also they are room darkening which our plantation shutters that we do have elsewhere are not. We still have a family room and dining area to furnish and our old home is still for sale. We have to work with existing paint, and window coverings. I do love the idea of burgundy as it is my favorite color. Also I love paisley. Would burgundy work with the shades or do I need to stick to neutrals like Champagne? Is the only way to add pattern in pillows. Besides curtains hubby hates throw pillows all over the bed. I have over ruled him though on that one.... Thanks for your help. I honestly appreciate it....See MorePam
