Wanda sent me a hand made quilt! picture inside.

It is purple with white, and it looks like hand dyed fabric, or hand painted. It is pieced and appliqued. The quilting is really cool too! On the bottom left corner, it's quilted with metallic thread. You just can't see it in the photo. It is quilted in the arrow shapes around the corner. The binding has been hand stitched to the quilt. It is beautiful!

enough. My son is quite the model! lol He is 6'6" just to give you an idea of how large the quilt is.

Welcome Pharoh. Thank you so much for sharing those kitchen photos, which of course totally blew me away like everyone else. Being a biologist with a particular interest in thing aquatic, your kitchen was like a dream to me, like a "I've died and gone to heavan" kitchen. My own kitchen is very small and completely lacking in counter space. Since it is a row house, no chance of expanding, lol! I'm a vegetarain too, although no gourmet. I'm basically what I call a "hash cook." I have no patience for manipulating and arranging my food, so I specialize in stews and soups! Also cheap food. I can no more do good phyllo than play the violin, lol! I love eating Indian and Asian food, although I don't cook it that often, I just don't have the ingredients around for it. I seem to specialize in mediterranean cooking, I have yet to find a mediterranean cuisine that I didn't love, most recently I have been doing N. African due to the influence of this forum and one of our virtual dinners. How I envy you living in CA, you have access to all the best ingredients all the time. Welcome, glad you're here! Lpink

Thank you pudgeder,trailrunner,chohio,dlm,arapaho, and hhireno... arapaho, I use a olympus 720,(10x optical zoom) I love it so much that I upgraded to olympus 750 because it has a 18 x optical zoom, as I like to take nature photos and birds. However, for all the decorating photos I use the 720. Here's the workbench up close... the hand turned wood pen is from another forum member, the hand turned screwdriver is from another forum member as well. Inside the wood handle is different size screw driver bits. I keep the pen on my desktop and call it my 'ceremonial pen' :) the screwdriver I keep in my kitchen drawer, everytime my DH uses it, I say, "don't forget to put MY screwdriver back!" haaa, I think maybe he is jealous of all my BFF's LOL... Here is the drawer filled...the vice grip is handy for hanging more earings. Here is what I mean about needing another box/tray thing on the shelf for more jewerly. I used little boxes for illustration.

Hi Marti, I've been away from the forum a while,and missed your post. I love making jean quilts. I'm saving up for number 3. I don't have a picture of the last one, but here's the first one I made. I learned alot from it, most importantly, is to use the heavy duty snips like mentioned above. It'll save your hands lots of swelling and pain. After it's made, I cleaned the washing machine and dryer after each time I washed and dried, and took it outside and gave it a good shake between washing and drying. That is gorgeous and the New York Beauty blocks are amazing! I love the borders, too and the batik fabrics are just perfect in this.

Thank you all for the compliments. Kat was my first cyberfriend (in the last century), so there's a special place in my heart for her. With all she has been through with the health issues, I wanted to give her something to let her know she is loved. There's a prayer in every stitch!
