Comments (15)Norma: That's ok. Bunnygirl: Lol, that is my knee. Yes, I did notice the leaves are growing really tight too. They must love the light, and not the snow of course. Josh: Of course you know I am cheating, right? Come in about a month or two, yours should start doing a heck of lot better in the color department! Look forward to that. Thanks;-) Linda: Hello Linda? Are you getting buried anytime soon again? We had our turn last night! Some places here had Hurricane force winds which peaked at 90 miles per hour with 3 inches of snow falling an hour all night..Oh, what a miserably cold winter so far:-( The colors do certainly pick you us which leads to, Marquest: I am happy that I could do that for you. I hope all is ok. It has been a while since I have seen you around! We will always be here to lift you up with everyone's amazing plants all times of the year. Have you seen Tom's thread about flowers this time of year? Very nice! YW Marquest. Cheers everyone. i hope yours start coloring up soon. If Pug wasn't so busy, I bet she would post a few of her beauties.....See MoreHaving to use Behr over SW or Benjamin Moore
Comments (17)So they started painting the ceilings - they scraped the popcorn, and primed and painted two coats of ceiling paint. I am very impressed with the scraping, and the application of a very light orange peel - it looks great. I am not impressed with the ceiling paint job, and have a call into the contractor. There is one hand sized area where they must have painted some dirt in. Overall, it needs one more coat. It's really noticeably thicker and whiter on the edges. There are a couple of places in the middle where you can see they rolled it on thicker in two of the rooms. And then to top it off, DH brought the ladder in the DR so I can start painting in there tomorrow. He gets the too tall ladder by mistake, and scrapes the ceiling! It's only about a half a fingernail size, but now they will have to prime and correct that. I'm hoping it won't be noticeable. I chose a Martha Stewart color called Garden Shed. They had to color match that one since it's actually a Glidden color....See MoreDoes anybody have Behr Fudge Bar paint color?
Comments (3)No, have not used the Behr color 250F-5, FUDGE BAR, but have used the more intense MELTED CHOCOLATE, which is 250F-7 at the bottom of that chip sheet. We have it on the lower half of our family room, below the chair rail. The chair rail and other woodwork in the room is satin Behr ULTRA PURE WHITE, and the upper portion of the walls is Behr ONLY NATURAL (270E-3) I've used colors from that run of chips quite a lot, and am very happy with the results. It just so happens that I absolutely LOVE 270E-1 ORANGE CONFECTION, as well as 260E-1 LILTING LAUGHTER. I am poised to try out 250E-1, EUROLINEN which is at the top of the chip having FUDGE BAR and MELTED CHOCOLATE on it. I'd say you are browsing in a good part of the color chart....See MoreHow many coats of paint can you have on the wall???
Comments (14)When in Egypt, do as the Egyptians. What your Egyptian contractor is describing is known as spalling. The locally available materials and construction techniques are different in Egypt than in the western world. If you have noticed, in the USA, there are many layers in the exterior of a home, designed for moisture control and insulation. I don’t know what your materials are, but it appears that there is a moisture control issue. That is why they had to scribe/scratch the paint, to get rid of excess paint and to create a increased surface area (on a micro level) to have better adhesion between the new and old layers. The Jotun Fenomastic is a high quality acrylic paint. With all the layers you are describing, it would effectively create a thick impermeable layer on top of your surface (think of it as being similar to covering your wall with plastic). Water goes from a liquid to a vapor, and that vapor expands in proportion to the temperature. When the moisture builds up between the wall and the impermeable surface, it causes spalling. Believe what your Egyptian contractor is telling you. He may not know the technical reasons for the problem, but he knows the results. You are very limited by the materials of construction. My recommendation is to use lots of lighting fixtures with LED bulbs, which are much safer than incandescent, fluorescent or halogen. Halogen is the worst for safety, durability and overheating and should be avoided. Hang some mirrors to bounce the light around. Learn to live with the dark color, or prepare to pay for more scratching off old paint in hope that you can buy a lighter color hardener. Since I am not familiar with your locally available materials, I don’t even know if that is a possibility. https://www.thebalance.com/what-is-spalling-1798631 https://www.energyvanguard.com/blog/75130/What-Happens-When-You-Put-a-Plastic-Vapor-Barrier-in-Your-Wall...See Moreroarah
