Comments (6)I believe the architect of this home, Al Beadle, built mostly custom homes. I believe the EIchler homes were more tract homes. From what I have seen, most of Beadle's homes are large for the era. This home was built for the owner of the Safari hotel, and his family, which was recently demolished. You can see similar features in the hotel to my house. Here is a link that might be useful: safari hotel...See Moredoes anyone feel like helping me w/ master bath hardware selects?
Comments (12)i found the mercury glass knobs on amazon. they came six to a package; with shipping it came out to $6 a knob! i actually had my eye on them for my closet, so if i don't use them in the bathroom they'll go there. and breezy, i also thought about the MOP knob but decided against because i thought too matchy as well. -and then i moved on to glass or crystal and decided they would be lost against the dark wood. i think the mercury knobs will work well. we'll see! elle: thank you. the floor tile is some kind of italian porcelain i picked up from best tile. ditto for the shower walls, except it's a crackle tile that doesn't need to be sealed. never saw such an animal, but it's smooth and the crackle finish is much slighter than the usual. i would have carried the marble over from the vanity top but we have well water....See MoreHUGE master bedroom; TINY master bath
Comments (24)I'm bumping this back up because I've been thinking about scaling back. We are reno'd out after our kitchen, and now bogged down with painting nearly every room in the house. We also have to take out some carpet and install hardwood. The thing I hate the most is the sink right across from the toilet. We do use the bathroom at the same time, but there is barely enough room for toilet and sink use simultaneously. Plus, I hate having a mirror right across from the toilet. So, I'm thinking of keeping the vanity as a single vanity, 48", but moving the sink closer to the shower. Then we'd put tall cabinets across from the toilet for towels, toiletries, etc., which we currently keep out in the hall closet. Though I still worry about the huge size discrepancy between the bedroom and bathroom....See MoreMaster bath look and feel, vanity question
Comments (11)Thanks! Agree about the floor and windows being too much. Consensus seems to be do the windows and not the floor. Budget and practicality may make me choose one over the other (ie I must change the floor but need not change the window). You can just see the windows in this picture (the two windows through the arched doorway). (This was the LR/DR will become master bedroom and ensuite): Everyone seems to prefer the look of the second vanity, so I will focus on doing something similar. My head was turned by the beauty of the first, but I will let it go and move on now. nosoccermom, I will have the trough, rain shower overhead and separate handheld. Haven't turned my mind to tile or solid surface in the shower, I'd love solid surface but I'm thinking I should do tile? I love the vanity you posted, it would be great in my current house but for this place it is too sleek. I still want modern, but with more texture/age I guess. I have to mix the feel of the new-Georguan house with my minimalist/modern aesthetic. Black or bronzed fixtures? Any pros and cons? I think brass and gold would be too shiny, but I've seen some nice weathered brass....See MoreClassic Comfort
