Two Middle September Re-bloomers!
Comments (7)we had a few cooler days here, too, then the upper 90's came back for over a week, was so hot out you startswetting soon as you get out the door, suppose to be in the 80's next week,I think. that's still hot with the humidity.at the present, I am b arely able to stand up and walk a few steps. a neighbors big dog was in my frony yard yesterday drinking all the water out of my bird bath, when I went out on the porch I seen it about the same time it seen me,and came running past me to get out of the yard,as I have run it out a few times before, and it run into me and since I have no balance no more,i fell one way and my cane went the other.I managed to get myself up and get inside and into the recliner, but today, every inch of me hurts and stiff. don't think they feed the dog very often or give it any water at all.I always make sure the birdbath is full of water at night, and each morning, its empty again, so that tells me the dog is getting all its water here from my birdbath....See MoreMid September Reblooms
Comments (20)Signet - The AHS registration committee changed the rules recently. I think it was last year. Just using a prefix in front of an existing daylily name is no longer allowed. Dick was on the committee that voted in the changes, and he said they did it to avoid confusion. Debra...See MoreMore September Reblooms
Comments (17)Nancy and Sherry - I grew two of the older Spacecoast daylilies in pots successfully for seven or eight years before they succumbed to a particularly bad winter. They were Spacecoast Easy Rider and Spacecoast Peach Fringe, which multiplied well even in those pots. I believe if they had been planted in the ground I'd still have them today. I think since Spacecoast Night Vision made it through last year's bad winter OK, it's probably hardy here. I wouldn't guess about farther north. It's gone from two fans to four, so I think it multiplies OK. It put up two scapes very early in the season, but a critter broke one of the scapes. and then I broke the other one when I was weeding. Comments (8)Nancy, Christmas Greeting has never rebloomed for me either but a lot of these have not!! Again, the power of water, I think! Debra, I see where you have mentioned on some of your posts about the extra water as well-you have had good rebloom as well! Sherry, it is nice to have blooms and I can appreciate them more in smaller quantities! Brad, Chesapeake Crablegs is the one out of all the blooms that did not look better or bigger on rebloom. Oh Celeste, would that I could send rain to you! We were not in drought but in a long time without rain after season was over. Without the tropical storms and hurricanes I would not have rain now either....See Moreshive
