Mid September Blooms
Comments (14)Lo and behold, last night is rained again....not too much either but we got perhaps another quarter inch. They are saying that we would need a front to stall and dump rain for a week to help with the drought crisis. We are down about 19 inches of rainfall from where we should be. There are water bans in the cities and private wells are going dry. Farmers have had to buy tanker trucks full of water to save their crops. My garden looks pitiful. I can't even water because I have a private well. I worry about what will happen if we don't get rain before winter sets in and the ground freezes solid....See MoreSome of the better rebloom photos form September
Comments (9)Thank you all for looking and commenting. These daylilies have been strange...Deborah, this is my first year for Integrated Logistics, so it is beginners Luck, I suspect. Stealth Bomber did indeed put up three thick scapes loaded with blooms. And yesterday, I found Colorado Moonstone had another scape which I broke off since it has bloomed five times already...which is typical here. But Betty Ford also put up a scape and I left it alone since it hadn't previously rebloomed this year although it usually does. BF is always just above foliage, but I love the color, and this scape is nice and tall, at least for Betty here...24". kay...See MoreMore September Reblooms
Comments (17)Nancy and Sherry - I grew two of the older Spacecoast daylilies in pots successfully for seven or eight years before they succumbed to a particularly bad winter. They were Spacecoast Easy Rider and Spacecoast Peach Fringe, which multiplied well even in those pots. I believe if they had been planted in the ground I'd still have them today. I think since Spacecoast Night Vision made it through last year's bad winter OK, it's probably hardy here. I wouldn't guess about farther north. It's gone from two fans to four, so I think it multiplies OK. It put up two scapes very early in the season, but a critter broke one of the scapes. and then I broke the other one when I was weeding. Comments (6)Brad - It was nice to get an ffo on a new one that hadn't bloomed yet. I have several new ones that haven't scaped yet. Maybe some of the ones I just took out of their pots and planted will scape in the coming weeks. Kate - My white clematis has eight blooms open now. I was hoping for some rebloom on my other two, but so far I haven't seen any buds on those. Debra...See Moreavedon_gw
