Comments (6)I'm in North Carolina, and our weather pattern has been similar to yours. March was warmer here (mostly low 50s), but still cooler than usual. April began with a blast of heat (upper 80s to around 90), and we're just now beginning to see actual spring-like temps in the 60s and 70s. My earliest rabbiteyes began blooming in late February, and several of my Southern Highbush quickly followed. I didn't begin to see any active bees until late March, and then only a few. Nonetheless, I definitely have a lot of developing berries, so pollination doesn't seem to have been a problem. As was discussed in other recent thread, bumblebees are very efficient, and one can pretty much take care of an entire bush in a very short span of time. So, I wouldn't count your early bloomers out. Comments (20)The Liedenfrost effect is water rolling across the pan like little balls. It's not quite there when it's only sizzling. I heat on medium until the balls form when I flick water into the pan. Then, turn to low or med. low, add butter and wait for it to stop foaming, then add the eggs. For frying, I leave them alone until that side is done to my taste then flip or place a lid over the top at the beginning to cook the top a bit. Diamond Swiss, ScanPan, and Teflon non-sticks are all similar. The former two have lots of fans because they seem to last longer due to their proprietary process. I imagine that the people take better care of an expensive pan vs a "cheap" one, too! I don't blame you for wanting a traditional non-stick for eggs, especially when scrambling. It IS much easier. I honestly don't think you'll love the ceramic if they do lose their non-stick quality, like your current pans. For what it's worth, Chantal is a very nice brand and you can make them work well for you using the above method for most foods. Comments (11)I have had several electric skillets in 58 years of marriage, Food Network brand was tops but tried to use it this past weekend and it was not making connection correctly as the pug in is shot. Trying to locate another one and can't. This skillet was 21 inches long by 13 wide. Love it. I got my money worth but need another one now. It was a no stick and it was prefect in that department. Anyone know where I can purchase another.? I have checked Penney's. Comments (4)I used to use my mom's skillet from the 50s but the cord started getting hot when using it so I figured I needed to replace it. I bought a Rival from Kohl's for about $30 on sale. It works totally fine, but I only use it occasionally (when I actually fry in oil). I don't know what else to use it for. If you have more suggestions please let me know! Nicole...See MoreUser
