Damaris of Kitchen Corners shares her 20 top picks for cooking gadgets and tools
It's not that I can't live without my kitchen gadgets, it's just that I'd much rather not. Here is a list of some of my favorite cooking tools that I use on a regular basis and would recommend.

Le Toaster Vision
Do you really need a see-through toaster? The answer is yes, yes you do. This toaster is fantastic. There's nothing like seeing your bread toast and then hitting the stop button when it's just right.
Santoku Chef Knife
Just look at the handle of this knife: so pretty. It's a great knife too. New West KnifeWorks makes amazing knives, and I love mine.
Victorinox Cleaver 18cm.
Lets just put it this way, I've had one of these knives for over two years, I use it daily and I've never had to sharpen it.
Quick Pop Maker
If there is one kitchen gadget you need to have, the Zoku is it. I can't tell you how many times I've used it and tried to get everyone else to use it too.
Tarte Tatin Set, Red
I understand that this costs a lot of money, and I also understand that, realistically, you'll probably only make tarte Tatin once every other month. Still, I strongly believe that the best dessert in the world deserves its own pan. I have this pan and I simply adore it.
Recipe Journal
Yes I'm addicted to my computer just as much as the next person, but that doesn't mean I don't love a good pen and a good journal. If I told you I used my Moleskine recipe journal every day, would you believe me? I pinky promise you that, in fact, I do.
WMF Profi Plus Silicone Ball Whisk
I have a soft spot for whisks, and the ball whisk is my absolute favorite. Something about the little balls on the ends is pure magic.
Deep Fryer
What, you don't like the smell of oil hanging around your house three days after you've made french fries? I understand. But you do love french fries, right? Me too. Let me warn you: if you get this deep fryer, you will deep fry everything. Whereas before you only deep fried once a month, now you'll deep fry twice a day. I love it because of the safety features (a must if you have kids) and because it somehow keeps the greasy smell contained. Now when I deep fry, my house smells like a house and not a fast food restaurant.
Illuminated JetBib Feeding System
If you have kids, you might as well make the feeding experience fun. I love this bib and spoon set and so does my baby.
Magimix by Robot-Coupe Food Processors, 14-Cup
Magimix is famous for its food processors. If you're looking for the ultimate food processor, this one is it.
KitchenAid Euro Peeler, Black
I've had this peeler for years, and it still works great. I like how thin the handle is; it's sturdy and easy to hold.
Shun Classic Kitchen Shears
I'm the type of person that cuts pizza with kitchen shears. I use my shears for everything.
All-Clad Measuring Cup Set Stainless Steel
These metal measuring cups are sturdy, pretty and accurate.
Blend and Cook 4-Speed Soup Maker, Black
My family could not survive without a blender. I even make cake batter in a blender — it's a Brazilian thing. Regardless, blenders are cool. You should totally have one.
Breville Die-Cast Citrus Juice Press
I trust Breville, and I believe in fresh squeezed orange juice. Basically, this juicer is the bomb.
4-1/2 qt. Tilt Head Stand Mixer in White
For the record, it's totally possible to beat stiff egg whites by hand, but also for the record, it's so much better to let your KitchenAid mixer do it for you. It's not that I can't live without my mine, I just don't want to.
Catskill Craftsmen Wood Cutting Board
Cutting boards need to be thick and sturdy, and if they're pretty, that is always a bonus.
KidCo Baby Steps Food Mill
As a parent I've used my baby food mill hundreds of times. I'm so thankful for this little device that helps me make dinner into baby food.
Tramontina Enamel Cast Iron Dutch Oven
This is a great dutch oven, and the price is absolutely right.
Demarle Silpat Nonstick Baking Mat
What did I do before Silpat was invented? Oh right, my cookies always got stuck to the cookie sheet.
