I have the same problem. I'm convinced this has nothing to do with graphite, but is related to the hinge not being properly lubricated. For example, In my home office (unused bedroom, of course) my passageway door has three hinges. Only one hinge squeaks, and not coincidentally, this is the only hinge with the black dust next to it. When you hear the squeak, I'm pretty sure this indicates a stop/start vibration in the hinge that actually flings metal filings away from the hinge surfaces that are squeaking. I took a magnet to the dust, and sure enough, some of it stuck to the magnet (no I didn't actually touch the dust to the magnet, the dust jumped across the distance from the molding to the magnet). So this dust is actually iron filings, coming from the door hinge itself. (note that what you think are brass hinges, are almost always steel hinges with a brass finish) The best idea I've read on this forum is the idea to use wax on the hinge pin. I suspect that any heavier wax or grease would work well, although with less expensive hinges, nothing will last forever. Lighter oils will likely just leave a mess (I think I tried light oil a few years back). If you want to avoid the black dust, ante up the extra money and upgrade to a hinge with real bearings and not just metal-on-metal pins. Good hinges are expensive, so that's why many of us don't have them.

I have a patio door with a single sidelight the same width as one of the patio doors. It looks like a 3 panel setup but only two of the doors open. I think they are 36" wide but would have to double check. So a bit wider that your existing opening. Looks similar to the door in the picture but i have two doors that open.

Something similar happened when we were selling our house in NY. We didn't have a Ring Doorbell but sometimes I would take the dogs put them in the car and sit at the end of the street waiting for them to leave. I noticed a few times people going in after 'someone' opened the lockbox and they would drive away. We were very upset, brought it up to Agency and the Agent, both denied it happened. I fired the Agent and the Agency gave me a new agent with the agreement it was to be by appointment only. This agent was wonderful, we were very happy with everything and she sold the house. She went above and beyond working around us and handling things which she wouldn't be expected to do. When we went to the closing, our agent was there and I noticed the first agent sitting outside the lawyers office. I wondered why she was there. Later found out the the Agency gave her half of the commission. She did no work and was fired by us and yet they made our agent (who sold the house), give her half the 6% commission. I was furious. My husband and I decided to give our agent additional cash from the sale so she got her full amount. She worked very hard for us and we were so upset. Jane

I like the ideas! Keeping the plumbing in the same place is always the least expensive way to go, but no matter what, it's going to be a $30K remodel if you are buying a tub and creating a new shower, vanity, etc. So putting in a pocket door will not add that much if you're going that route. I have a situation now where I have a linen closet door and bathroom door opening as your drawing. They are always banging into each other and the doorknobs get tangled up together because I leave the linen closet door ajar because the cat likes to sleep in there. I'm changing it to a pocket door and linen cabinets. The foot print is smaller for a tall cabinet and for me, a lot more functional although Kitty will have to find a new place to sleep. I'm actually using a tall kitchen pantry cabinet as it already has roll out shelves. But it does add to the cost, $4K. The closet is just framing, drywall, shelves and a door. Probably less expensive than $K. Take your time, find someone who knows the building code and keep playing with your plan.
