Help! Moving into new bedroom and it desperately needs a makeover

The only things that can't be removed out of the room are the bed (excluding comforter/sheets) and the computer desk. It's a bit larger in person than in these pics. The color of the laminate floors are pretty accurate in the photos vs. IRL, so I'm wondering what color/wall schemes would help bounce off that? That angled desk isn't my style at all, either. But, I love the mirrored closet.

I don't know why, but I saved this pic from Apartment Therapy and I'm really drawn toward building off inspiration based off this pic.

It looks very large in the pictures. It is very much a blank slate. What is your budget, your color preference, style; do you have other inspiration photos? It sounds as if you are a guest in someone else's home. If not perhaps a picture of your favorite room in the home would give us a place to begin? I would want a head board,a dresser, a different light fixture with or with out the fan; an area rug, lose the mini blinds,one color of paint on all the walls, is the black furniture paint-able? To my eye the flooring is totally neutral. It wouldn't inhibit me from ANY design decision, direction.

I'm moving into the bedroom as a a permanent roommate. The bookshelf can be taken out of the room so I'm debating whether or not to keep it. If I keep it, I'd rather not paint it. I'm very into Scandinavian/Japanese minimalism mixed with "Wes Anderson" style.

In terms of budget, I pretty much try and buy based on three criteria: 1. Efficiency 2. Price 3. Style. I'll pay more for something if it ends up being extra efficient/multi-purpose over something pretty. If it's just pretty but kind of a chore/hassle to move and doesn't give me much use (Like, say, a mini credenza), then I won't buy it unless it's on sale/a thrift store find. Anything over $300 I consider a splurge, and I'd like to splurge only on unique accent pieces. I guess I should state that I do have a small steamer trunk that's very Wes Anderson style. It's about 16" high and 30" long and painted cerulean blue with a slight lacquer to it. It's super, super similar this trunk. I'm totally open to any color scheme! But my selling point for the cerulean trunk was because of how vibrant the blue was. I wonder how it'll look against the beige laminate floor....

Yes Sofia has Beige but the background color is not ivory it is a cool tone not warm at all..that is why you can go both directions... Worldly gray is a bit cooler than accessible Beige...If you go warm on the walls your room will just be one note of Beige:( to matching ....I would keep the walls just a bit cooler so the room is not all beige and you can introduce a tiny bit of gray....I wouldnot do accessible Beige just to Beige:((

Good afternoon, and I am glad you and your family are well. What a fun challenge! Here's my 2 cents. General--I would stick to your grey, white, and bling color scheme. This is an elegant combination that is timeless. Walls--A nice pale grey but make sure it is not looking blue or purple. I like and have Behr Marquee Silver City. Or you could do an off white with grey tones. Get samples first, paint on canvas, and hang them up so you can see them in daylight and night. Accent Wall--not required. 1-2 pink accent pillows are plenty b/c the art is a strong statement on its own. If you still want more pink: a pale blush wall color behind the bed like Behr Marquee Stolen Kiss. Dresser: I would paint it the same color as walls. This will help with visual clutter. Dresser mirror can be sophisticated (round?) and have bling. Night tables: mirrored with storage, or wood painted the same color as walls. Other: Lamps that are silver, glass, or sparkly. (Make sure there is not too much bling in the room though.) A tropical plant. Curtains to blend with wall, but with the rod higher and wider than the window. New grey bedding that looks like a spa, with white sheets and cases if you like. Definitely see if office can be moved, or at least downsized as a console table and elegant armchair. Hopefully this will get you started on a lasting design. Pros: how did I do? 😁 Keep us posted!

I would paint the walls behind the shelf a navy or dark blue to make the copper piping pop. Add plywood paneling to the bottom to act as your headboard. You don't really need one, just use a regular bed frame. Maybe add a long bolster pillow at the top to cushion your head. Paint the ceiling white with a matte paint, it looks shiny. Get long curtains to the floor in a blue pattern. Add a hanging list fixture, maybe rattan or something to add in wooden detailing. The ikea bedframe is also not a good color for the room too dark. You need to add lighter wood detailing not black. Good luck!

You could fit a headboard. Please do as Patrucia asked, give us an exact floor plan of the room. That is a small master, but there are things that can be done but it is better if we know exact measurements..
