design ideas for ranch renovations
Comments (3)Seems like you have it mostly figured out. Are you looking for pics? Which version of Royal's siding? What roofing material?...See Moreranch front renovation
Comments (16)Yes, shave off the palm parts of the trunk that stick out.\ Don't know what part of Florida you're in. YOu could take the pic to a local garden center and get their recommendations, or you could take to the Florida gardening Forum here on GardenWeb and inquire what plants would work for your area. After getting some suggestions, you could return here and and get feedback on the suggestions. As a starter suggestion, you could use Liriope for the groundcover at the front and along the walk. It could be solid or variegated (but not mixed.) Another suggestion is sun tolerant Caladium bulbs s at the front and side of the porch (where I'm showing yellow flowers). Depending on how far south you are, they could be perennial for a few years. Where I'm showing red could be low annuals, whatever looks good to you at the garden center. The two shrubs in front of windows could be Raphiolepis, or if you are far enough south, Thai crown of thorns. The purple thing at the corner could be tricolor or regular oyster plant. Or it could be purple heart....See Morerenovate 1960s ranch on 10 acres or new build on same land?
Comments (7)I would evaluate the structure itself. Is it well built or not so much. They don't make things like they used to can be a good thing or a bad thing. My parents house built around 1960 has 2x6 sub floors under solid oak floors. Sure beats plywood with engineered wood floors. Did need upgraded insulation and some new wiring and misc. upgrading over the years....See MoreHelp with exterior design on 1969 ranch.
Comments (8)If you are keeping the siding on the house, keep it on the garage too. It would not look good to put different there. It will look like you added on a garage and couldnt match the siding. Both colors you mentioned are way too dark for your house. Keep your house lighter. The color on it, looks nice, but, needs to be refreshed. Also the garage door stands out that color, paint it the same color as the house. You can keep the front door and that other door, the color they are. Once you get it painted, it really needs some landscaping. You have none at all. Is there a sidewalk, from the drive to the front door, or even to the other door, to the garage? I dont know what your budget is, but, it would improve your house curb appeal a lot, if you had a roof, over your front porch, to take away that flat look....See Morebecmckee
