Group Hug: Tea Roses
Comments (52)What a great week we've had in the tea bloom department despite having a slight frost last weekend. We've had a steady flush of blooms on all the teas and chinas around here. The colors are rich and lovely because of the cooler temps. The Duchess looks especially lovely in her pink blossoms. Mrs. B.R. Cant and Mons Tillier are new to my garden this year. Still in pots, but oh, so fun. Ducher, Cramisia Superior (sorry about the spelling) and Sombreiul (sigh, gotta practice my French spellings) are having a nice late fall flush. My china, Mutablius, is bursting with blooms. Silly roses. We will have a hard freeze within the next couple of weeks. They should be going to sleep, not putting on new growth and buds. But I'm not griping. They look incredible. Hugs to the teas and their growers. Here is a link that might be useful: Creative Soul...See MoreAHS Online Auction 2014
Comments (20)Hello all, January 15th indicated a server issue with one of the servers involved in running this auction. Your own personal service provider's server, the AHS's server, and the webmaster's server which sends out the email messages for passwords and out bid notices, etc. The service provider for generating emails was the culprit. This meant that all bids were going through and those registered prior to Wednesday could participate. Those that had been outbid could see they were outbid but only by checking the item page, not by relying upon an email notification. This email generation step was clear by mid-day Wednesday. All is well in the universe again. The most common problem of not receiving passwords when first registering has been that the email goes to folk's spam or junk mail folder. This is on the registrant's end of the communication. Check your folders and either click not junk or drag to your inbox (each email software is a bit different). This action of approving of mail coming into you will indicate to your spam filter that you want future emails from that address. Appreciate your interest and enthusiasm! Have fun and grab one of the treasures posted....See MoreAh, Soulmates
Comments (29)Hi all! I've been poking around in RP - somehow I missed out on it before Houzz. I thought I would just jump in on this conversation. I have had to limit myself to only keeping books that I know I will re-read. I rarely get to buy them new, so most of the books I buy at library bookstores and nowadays online shopping for used books is very helpful. Many books I am trying to find are out of print, and eventually library copies are so well-loved that they are withdrawn and can't be replaced.....I am not a fan of ebooks (much prefer the physical for many reasons) but I notice that some out of print books are showing up as ebook editions. I work in a library, and have a few library cards, so I can tell you from personal experience that all libraries do not have the same policies. In our county system, we have to buy from a specific vendor, and the books are mostly processed when we receive them. We just do a couple of small things before they are on the shelf, and that factors into to the higher replacement cost. The processing fee is a separate thing and varies by item type. Once we did accept replacements but they had to have the same ISBN among other criteria, and it was just easier to switch to a charge. As an aside, only a few weeks into my working at the library, someone gave me such a wonderful site : www. fantasticfiction.co.uk. I use and recommend it constantly, it is invaluable to those of us who want to read series in order. Dawn...See MoreAh hoya update
Comments (6)> 6 days total! You mean transportation from Thailand to Aurora, and THEN from her to you, ALL TOGETHER, took 6 days? Wow, that is exceptionally fast. 4+2 days, I am assuming. That was EMS express shipping, Aurora? And did you pay to AH Hoya by Paypal, or by Transferwise? My order is an individual one, because I easily found 12 plants I want, but I guess once I reshuffle my collection a bit and grow most of what I want to grow, I won't need to get 12 plants the next time around, so a group order may be in my future, to make that shipping more economical per plant. And I will probably make a good hub for that future order because I am only 13 miles from the JFK airport where I assume all these shipments come in, if directed to the East Coast of the US. I can't wait to get my babies. This is going to be a first for me from Thailand, or from anywhere overseas for that matter....See MoreLiberated
