Hoya polyneura blooms and bud updates
Comments (16)Absolutely STUNNING pix!!!! Kelly, I've not gotten this one to bloom yet. Way To Go! Love your grow area, the lights (and your nice tidy house!). Denise, now I'm doublely intimidated... you have a beautiful home and such wonderful plants! Your second picture, do you have those Pella blinds that drop between the glass? I see glass, but I see blinds of some type on the other side of the glass... ? And how CLEVER is that, to attach a trellis to the interior window frame!!!!? Denise, your home has architectural detail that I would sell most of my plants for! That door looks like maple, and the woodwork around your spectacular windows is wonderful. Thank You from a fan for Never Painting Them! Both of your homes are wonderful. Your plants make me jealous. I am SO going to bug DH for a hanging set up in my bathroom. Older, California homes with awnings do NOT provide light.... Thank You So Much for posting those snap shots of your lives and homes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...See Moreailing hoya update: repotted in new soil
Comments (1)Karam, the plant will probably make it fine. They're tough plants. It may stall for a period but then it'll perk up and probably do great. Ripping a few roots won't hurt it any. I had a plant (hoya brevialata) I needed to repot that had compacted soil. After abusing the plant terribly trying to get the soil out (was pretty much unsuccessful), I just took a knife and carved off a bit around the sides and the bottom. Then I put some fresh soil in the bottom of the pot, set the plant inside, then added soil to the sides. I put it in a slightly lower light location for a couple of weeks to give it time to recuperate, then moved it back to it's original position. It stalled for a short while then perked up and started happily growing again....See MoreAustralis Spp. Tenuipes (and Hoya Updates)
Comments (1)Mine usually starts budding up in Sept. No signs of any buds yet for me, but I think it got pretty stressed with the heat we had this summer. It's one that's so potbound, it's hard to keep watered enough. I guess we'll see if it rebounds as it cools off... Denise in Omaha...See MoreBack w/ Update on new Hoyas from new laptop
Comments (10)Thx EMT, is this how you brought yours back, by cutting & soaking? HI GL, I'd potted up the plant, more than a month ago, but it appears not to be taking up liquid. So, I unpotted it, saw roots at the bottom of the stem & cut some of them off, cutting back the a bit of the bottom stem end to green growth, in btwn some of the roots (still left some). Am trying to get it to drink & plump up. Today, while it doesn't look better, it does feel firmer when I hold the cutting in my hand....See MoreJimmy
