eBay Sellers - Why Best Offer Option?
Comments (7)Thank you, Leafy02 and Sweeby, for your replies. Sweeby, eBay automatically limits a best offer bid to 48 hours. There is even an automatic decline function that a seller can set if they have a minimum below which they will not entertain offers. I did some reading on the eBay forums and it seems that sellers have a wide variety of reasons for setting up a best offer option. Many of those reasons made no sense at all to me. In the past, I have had the same experience that Leafy did where the seller will either accept the offer, decline the offer automatically, or make a counter offer. I guess I just coincidentally happened onto two sellers who choose to ignore best offers that are below their target price or who don't ever check their offer sheets to see that a best offer has been made....See MoreeBay Experiences
Comments (15)Have you heard Weird Al's "Ebay"? It put a smile on my face, even after I was grossly misled by one seller who didn't mention, or photograph, the damage to the article. This has been the only adverse experience, so far. I don't buy yarn but I am seriously tempted with a lot of other merchandise. My son, who is also an Ebay buyer, says it is addictive (speaking from experience perhaps) and that I should give up cold-turkey (obviously not speaking from experience). I think that with a lot of items, such as yarns, it pays to look for brand names. There are heaps of very cheap yarns around and, if you have no knowledge of what you are buying, you could end up paying more for them on Ebay than you pay in the bargain stores. And you have to wonder about some manufacturers. I have seen one multi-coloured yarn that really looked like vomit. It must have looked like that to other customers as well - it didn't look as though anyone was buying it. Anyway, must go and check My Ebay....See Morefor eBay sellers
Comments (9)She'll need to cancel the transaction or be charged the seller's fee for a sold item...And, since she can't leave negative feedback for a buyer, something needs to be recorded that Ebay could be alerted this person is not keeping their commitment they've made, that bid is a contract in their eyes. Ebay considers an item as 'unpaid' after two days from auction end. I usually use 72 hours as a guide. But really, with this being a holiday week, you might want to give some thought that the buyer may by gone, or have a house full :) Have you checked the buyers feedback rating, see if there is anything suspect there that would make you want to just go ahead and file unpaid claim, get the sale off your record? That could make a difference in how I treated the silence you're getting from your buyer....See MoreQuestions about my recent eBay purchases
Comments (6)I don't doubt that she's a good choice... I just don't want to be a pain in the patootie bugging her if everything's fine on my end. I don't know enough about these specific varieties, or about some of the trials in growing them when they look a little frail, to judge my guesses on if these are issues worth worrying about. But I guess I just tell her as much and just hope she's not annoyed or offended. Can't hurt, I figure......See More- 9 years ago
