Rather than arguing about : "is it/isn't it making a high pitched noise" why not record the noise with your video camera, rockybird? If you have a fairly decent video camera with good audio sensitivity, said camera will pick up the noise. I recorded the sounds (or actually a lack thereof) that my Elux induction unit makes, even on boost, with the mic right next to the boiling pot. My camera has a readout display that shows the intensity of basicaly any sound/sounds that it pics up and yes it picks up high frequencies as most better cameras should, and in fact one of my cats "passed gas" during my test and the camera picked it up! I also whispered so folks could get an "idea" of the camera's mic sensitivity. As far as telling which appliance is the "Culprit" turn off the power to one, long enough so you can determine which one it is. In a unit that has "dual compressors" or in your case a compressor for the fridge and one for the freezer,(and using variable speed compressors), it is "very likely" that the compressor "rarely, if at all" shuts fully off. More than likely it will run at it's mininum speed until cooling demands require that the compressor speed up, hence the circuitry that drives the compressor is operating most of the time, and an oscillator in the circuitry is what you "may be" hearing--not saying that you should hear it thou, maybe the circuit board, is not propertly mounted, or insulation aroumd it lacking so it feeds into the frame of the unit, and thus amplifies the sound. Does anyone know if Miele has plans for a 24 inch freezer like their others? Apparently the current 24 is Liebhor designed and not he same as the others (do door shelves)? Is that how the other sizes were as some point? I am planning a 36 inch column fridge and 24 freezer. Prefer Miele but don't like that freezer. I'm still a year away from my project so hoping that 24 is temporary filler for a 24 Built and styled like the other sizes. Would a paneled Thermador 24 look like a match to the Miele fridge? Or go to 30/30 like the original poster but I think I could use the fridge bigger, I have a garage freezer but don't want to go as skinny as the 18 inch. 24 seems the right size for me. Or I might go sub zero as I also like their over under all fridge (all fridge but with 2 separate drawers at the bottom). I currently have produce in undercounter refrigerator drawers and like the one step pull out access. But I'm more of a Miele fan. Had a subzero in my old house and knew my repair man a bit too well. But that Miele 24 freezer is a problem and I would love if Miele did the separate drawers on the bottom style for the fridge.

I am looking for a column refrigerator/freezer set that won't break the bank. I love the frigidaire ones, but they are discontinued, and the new ones coming out this fall are $1,000 more each for the same thing. Anyone have any suggestions, or know of any stores that may still have the older models in stock?

Purchased ours in 2017. It’s crap. Had a major repair/replacement on the condenser, $900 (summer 2021). Months later, went out again - lost everything in it - again. Called them back out and service said it was leaking freon but no idea where or how. Refilled. $300. Just went out again - summer 2022 - Lost everything in it. Searching now to find something that will fit the space we built especially for this size fridge. Not too pumped about giving frigidaire more money for another one that is likely to fail too, but redoing cabinets that are only 5 years old isn’t exciting either. Can’t buy fridge only as the new ones aren’t the same size so we’ll have to replace both fridge and freezer. Don’t buy these!
