Handles for custom panel Thermador column freezer refridgerator
Comments (8)We have a paneled Liebherr and went with pulls similar to our cabinets in a thicker, heavier size. They were not listed under cabinet hardware, but under door hardware as "grips and pulls" Ours are "sash grips" by Rocky Mountain Hardware in Silicon Bronze, and for the cabinets they are called sash pulls. I really like the soft feel of this handle as well as the look. Comments (2)Thermador has been at it far longer than subzero so I normally recommend them (or miele or gaggenau which come out of the same factory). They have been very reliable and are well priced. The only instance where the subzero has an advantage is the install with regards to the hinge. If you are installing in a tight space, the hinge on a subzero opens within the width of the unit. So you can put it up against a wall or hinge to handle. In the therm/miele/gag units the hinge is articulating and opens wider than the body of the unit by about 2"...See MoreThermador vs Subzero refrigerator integrated columns?
Comments (9)Subzero makes 24" refrigerator drawers: https://www.subzero-wolf.com/sub-zero/counter-refrigerator/24-inch-refrigerator-drawers-panel-ready I have never owned a Thermador fridge. I owned a Subzero fridge/freezer combo and their fridge drawers in my last house. Next week we will have both a fridge and freezer column installed. I am short like you and not really worried about reaching the top of the inside of the appliance I never had a problem with anything in my Subzero appliances. We had the interior water dispenser and an ice maker in the freezer, never an issue. I will say that the ice maker took up almost one freezer drawer entirely and I was not happy about that. It left very little freezer room. Fwiw, my parents have owned a side-by-side Subzero with almost no issues for the last 20 years. Here's my thought on both the columns after looking at them online. Counter depth fridge / freezers are shallower inside then a standard fridge / freezer. Meaning, you will not fit as much in them. Everything will be more visible which is great! It looks like the SubZero offers a little more storage on the door, more shelving all the way down the door. The Subzero door shelves have less dividers so that you are not so limited as to what you can store in them. The drawers in the Subzero, specifically where you might keep lunch meat, are also divided to keep meats separate from cheeses. The undercounter drawers are slightly different across the brands. Subzero offers dividers whereas the Thermador does not. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but wanted you to be aware of the function. I don't know that one brand is substantially better than the other, so I can't answer that specifically....See MoreColumn Refrigerator and Column Freezer Help Please
Comments (8)So performance (not reliability)...my honest take: I don't think there is a massive gap between the best and worst fridge, certainly not enough to justify the price difference between say the Frigidaire that wdccruise linked and the Sub Zeros. You certainly aren't getting 5x the performance. Here's what you are paying for, imho: Aesthetic: the high end fridges typically install better when using a panel front and allow for the fridge to be flush with the counter. Function: Sub Zero has the best air filter in the business and the only one (besides Viking, which I do not recommend), that filters the ethylene gas produced by ripening food. It has a magnetic seal on their doors which improves performance but makes the door harder to open. Spill proof shelves that prevent liquids from dripping to the next. Nice food safety and convenience feature. One thing that SubZero does not offer, which I think they should, is an all metal / glass construction for the shelves on the door. Many of the other high end brands do this. So all in all, you do get some modest performance improvements over an average priced fridge, but certainly not enough to justify the cost. If aesthetics are not important to you than I would go with a less expensive option that suits your needs....See MoreEmilner
