Autumn Blaze maple early color turn - keep or replace?
Comments (1)I'd think not watering it the rest of the summer is why it turned ahead of the others, which I guess you are saying did get watered. Digging around them all and at least getting the wrapping and wires off the sides - you would have to pick the trees up to get it off the bottoms - would be quite a job. However, it is possible that problems will develop in future if this is not done. Nobody can say for sure what will happen in your particular instance if the burlap and baskets remain undisturbed. I have seen burlap left in place resulting in water not getting into rootballs and causing problems. This will not happen in every instance. Eventually the burlap, unless plastic, will moisten and decay. With trees that are intended to last a long time I think a greater concern is the intact wire baskets and what they may do to thickening roots that have grown through them. Comments (14)I decorate for all major holidays & seasons. I have to say it's actually not so much fun doing the decorating but I love the end result. We went pumpkin picking so in the front of my house I have bales of hay with pumpkins, ghourds, mums. On my front walkway I have metal jack-o-lantern buckets with mums. I change my holiday flag for all seasons plus the outfit on a little "welcome dog" & there are always a few garden stakes that change. For Halloween we also had a scarecrow & an inflatable ghost/jack-lantern ballon. Of course I change my door decorations as well & even my door mat. On my patio I added a windsock & change the 2 wall decorations. In my daughter's room I take out all her holiday plush. My diningroom & livingroom have a change of candles & I add cornucopias plus I have have silk mums & several asst. Halloween items. Now that Halloween is over I took off anything CLEARLY Halloween & in its place added a turkey here & there, plus I changed my flag, doormat, dog's outfit, balloon to a turkey, etc. It's allot of work. And this is nothing compared to Xmas where my sister & I spent 2 days decorating my house, which even includes changing dishes BUT I don't even consider doing outside lights. It's actually getting to be too much. Michie...See MoreCan I see your front door dressed for autumn
Comments (69)blanche65 - Thank you so much for the compliments on the doors. I bought them originally with some dried grasses already in them, stuck into some florist foam down in there. I've had them a year now and each season I've stuck in other types of things, like red berries at Christmas, yellow and white dried flowers in spring etc. This summer a bird actually built a nest in one so I didn't touch it! We watched as she sat on the 3 eggs, then the babies hatched and lived there on my front door until one day I was actually watching when they had flying lessons. Sooooo, a few weeks ago I took the nest out and had to remove a few of the dirtier twigs...lol. I just went to hobby lobby and bought a few more twigs and some gourds and pumpkins to stick in also. I think this summer I'll put something different up :-) I attach them to the door (which is fiberglass) with the 3M Command small wire hooks. They've lasted a year so far and still holding tight. The bottom point has a small piece of the Bluestik adhesive putty like teachers use to attach things to walls. That just keeps the breeze from knocking it crooked and keeps it hanging nice and straight....See MoreAlisande
