Early autumn at your house?

Alisande

Granted, we're almost done with August, but it's unseasonably cool here and nature has been acting strangely. Leaves have been falling for weeks, and unripe apples are falling in unusual numbers. It was a bumpy experience on the riding mower yesterday as I sliced into a lot of them. This doesn't usually happen until well into September.

The vegetable garden has that rusty look that comes with autumn, but it seems too soon. And I haven't seen a single hummingbird since last week. Isn't it early for them to disappear? Maybe I'm wrong about that.

Have you noticed an unusual shift in the seasons where you live?

PS: The beans have slowed down too--they like warmer weather. Left to right: Dragon Tongue, Rattlesnake, Trionfo Violetto, and Triomphe de Farcy.
