Wallpaper over painted mural?
Comments (4)I've never done it and haven't thought about it for years, but I remember Sheri and Matt from the HGTV show Room by Room using starch to "upholster" walls. They recommended it for temporary housing situations as a way to customize/treat the walls and then be able to remove it with out a trace of the treatment left behind. That's really 'bout the only thing that I can think of that would have a chance of preserving the murals....See MoreWallpaper for powder room thoughts?
Comments (23)Cindy - thanks for the info, the back of the paper does state it's washable, so hopefully they mean it! Shermann and Andrea - I have my challenges with little boys but this is our powder room, most of their cleanup happens between the basement bathroom or their upstairs bathroom. i can see the light switch being an issue, the paper states it's washable, so hopefully that will help. Treasure - you did not post your room in my other post so now worry. It's gorgeous, I was leaning towards #2 until I saw your room. Wow! thanks nutmegxo and caminnc- The wallpaper looks much more blue on the screen than in real life. In person, it's almost a blue/gray or even a hint of green to it. My house is pretty much a blank slate right now. We painted the foyer and the family room when we first moved in almost 4 years ago. I'm not a fan of the paint colors and will repaint. This mirror is right off the powder room and I love it. Since they are so close in proximity, do they work together ok?...See MoreWallpaper over wallpaper?
Comments (6)"brickeyee" I appreciate your input about using drywall instead of floor boards. I've wrestled with that idea for a few days now. Here's my problem. The plaster walls are really old with a lot of bows and bulges, I thought the wood product would be stiffer and maybe give me a smoother finish than drywall. I thought the drywall might telegraph the imperfections of the wall. Plus, i have never taped and mudded before and when I mess that up it might look worse then the seams of the wood product. I don't know ? Additionally, I'm doing V-board at the bottom and the top 4 ft. to the ceiling with wood panels. I hope it does not turn into a disaster....See MoreWhere to find mural-type wallpaper?
Comments (16)I'm infatuated lately with this site: https://www.surfaceview.co.uk/shop/walls/mural they have tons of images from museums, galleries, libraries..you can order mural from any of these, to your specifications. Also wallpaper, and even, with some of the images, window film, or tile, glossy or matte. The prices are not cheap but the shipping here is reasonable. I can't attend to their quality myself since I've never ordered from them yet; but the choice is wonderful and dreamy. I definitely stumbled upon more sites, because I love wallpaper and murals, but I can't remember the names right now. I'll add them if I remember. I'd still check Anthropologie from time to time-their inventory of wall coverings is constantly growing lately....See MoreRita / Bring Back Sophie 4 Real
