There is only one thing Bermuda can't take - shade. Is it continuous shade, or does it get 2-3 hours of sun a day?

Atleast 70% of the area gets sun probably for 3-4 hours (830AM - noon). 30% gets partial due to couple of trees in the next lot. Our backyard has a slope which currently has pine-needles with shrubs. This section is (55x25) 1375sq feet which gets full sunlight. Long term goal is to make this a grass slope to let the kids run around and play but will cost $$$ on sod I think. But on the other hand with seeding and water cost, will it exceed or come same to the cost of sodding/soil prep?

But the problem is that the rest of my lawn around the house which is 2000 sq feet is bermuda. Fescue seems like a delicate child to me..lol too much maintenance. Thanks for the info though..will look into it. I have to admit though on the flip-side bermude has a 30-day germination period which seems long compared to fescue.

Is your current bermuda lawn a sodded variety or a seeded variety? You don't want to mix the two.

I have no idea as we just moved to his house last year. It is a 10 year old home, so no idea what the previous folks did.

Sod is a much better idea & likely a better visual match. You only need a single pallet for that area, usually 50 or 100 bucks from a local place. The seed is not really cheap when you consider all the extra water, fertilizer & weeks of anguish it requires
