We have a Crema Bordeaux island and cambrian black antique on the perimeter countertop. I don't know if this will help you. I don't know the name of the backsplash tile we picked, but it is a honed marble and the shop was "The Tile Shop." We just picked it out today, I can find out the name if anyone is interested.

Will it show spatters? Yes! It'll show everything! But it comes clean. I did a full battery of "countertop slab testing" before I deemed it acceptable for a floor. I think it can also be sealed. Of course the 8x16 is the one size I don't have (in my batch of 300+ sq. ft. extra that my GC over-ordered) so I'll have to mock it up with paper. Safer that way I suppose! If I hire someone to do this I guess I could have everything ripped down to a better size. I've done it before, now that I think of it. It's a lot easier to cut slate than ceramic or porcelain.

The bathroom's fully gutted. No walls, flooring or other material yet. That's what we're trying to decide now. I was thinking of going with simple white walls because the space is so small. We've only purchased this vanity and sink (a slightly longer version than the picture), a matching linen tower (the grey wood color) and bathroom hardware in chrome. We've also purchased a simple mirror with LED lighting all around.

And in the downstairs bathroom. Right now carpet but will remove carpet and put hardware in the rooms downstairs where I have carpet. Just on fence about my home office (sunroom?) tile or hardwood.
