Installing a Range Hood

I bought a home recently and one of the appliance that didnt come was a Range hood. There is a provision for installing a range hood with external duct. The problem is the hood place is 28.5 inches width and 18 inched depth. There is a 6 x 10 rectangular duct. I am not able to find a range hood of 28.5 x 18 dimension. Has anyone installed something like this ?

How wide is the range and what's the fuel source (electric, gas, induction, ...)? It is generally not safe to have cabinets that overlap the stove. In fact, it is usually recommended that a properly installed range hood be at least 3" wider on each side than the stove.

This would means, you probably have enough space for a 24" range. They do make these. But they are somewhat unusual because they are so small and limiting. More common width would be 30" (or all sorts of ranges that are much wider than that).

If your stove is wider than the space above it, that is quite likely a code violation because of the very real fire risk. This should have been pointed out to you in your house inspection report.

OR, do you mean that there is one of these with no fan in it? (28.5 inside dimention)

Hi guys. I got the Kobe RA02 with the optional 24 inch duct cover. My contractor and I are having trouble figuring out how to attach the 24in duct cover. The standard 12 inch cover just slips over a bracket on the hood. But with the 24" this bracket stops it from installing since the 24" one has a lip. Has anyone installed the RA02 with the 24" duct cover? How did you attach the cover to the hold? The instructions for the hood make no mention of how to do this.

There are under cabinet vents that duct directly out the wall, but I'd check code on that window over your range before you do anything.

Order for installing range, hood, counters, tile

My GC had it done this way. Counters Hood Backsplash Range Hood went in before tile and range because tile was not going up to bottom edge of hood (not behind it). I assume hod was easier to install before range was on the way. Backsplash went in before range because it was easier to install tile behind the range, and the range would be installed along with all other appliances by the crew my GC uses to install appliances. I'm sure he wanted to install all appliances at the same time, and wanted the tile contractor to work without appliances in the kitchen. As a result of counters going in first, I don't have a super tight fit between my range and the granite counters. I have not done anything yet to fill the 1/16'' gap either side, so junk can fall in the crack.

No suggestion other than keep your bend from vertical to horizontal gentle. That is, two 45* bends are better than 1 90* bend.
