Redbud seeds

I planted a redbud seedling last August, and it bloomed this spring and developed seed pods. Are the seed pods ready when they have turned brown, or do I need to wait any longer after they turn brown? Some pods appear to be brown now. Other are green so I will wait on those. But I don't want to pull a brown one off if I am supposed to wait until it is crispy or some other "state" of being. Thanks for your insight!

I spend the better part of my life pulling up Cercis (redbud) seedlings. As far as I can tell, it's impossible to make those seeds moribund!

They're ripe when brown. Usually near or after leaf fall.

Lawd, I remember when I heard my first Wisteria explosion! Amazing! I don't know if the Western Redbud behaves the same way as the Eastern, but we have to pluck a mess of redbud seedlings out of our perennial beds every year. No big deal in the lawn where they can be mowed down. Hey, Cuz'n Lucky! Did you get hit by any of that snow?

I sent packs of 12 seeds last year. Some had more, but 12 was my minimum. Most people don't need 12 trees, but they don't germinate well, so you'll probably get only a couple plants from 12 seeds. None of mine germinated. It can take 2 years from what I've read. I scattered them this summer under some leaf mold in the back yard rather than keep them in a pot I wouldn't remember to water.
