When you say no blinds... he has allergies, what type of blinds cause him allergies? Can he use curtain panels?

No blinds because they're dust catchers. Need something easily cleaned.

Nice space! People I know with severe dust allergies prefer wide blinds because they think the hard surfaces are easier to clean. They clean them use a dusting attachment on their HEPA vacuum or wipe them with a damp cloth.

Ikea seems to have the cheapest curtains but I do not know if they will stand up to repeated washing and drying. Target and Kohls (if you get a coupon) also have a good selection of inexpensive curtains.

Probably washing them. Can't see him dusting blinds; that's why I'm looking for inexpensive fabric. I always forget about IKEA; thanks! I'll check them out.

Also Country Curtains makes plain white cotton rod pockets and sheers in many sizes and they stand up to multiple washings. If he needs blockout he could get vinyl roller shades for those windows that could be wiped with a damp cloth or even Windex

Fabric curtains may hold more allergens then wood or faux wood blinds. Dusting blinds using a swifter wand is fast and easy.

Another option would be roller shades.

What about those woven wooden shades? They'd just roll up during the day & down at night....shouldn't get dusty. You could mount them inside the pretty wood trim. They would be great for allergies!

I have severe allergies and my woven wooden blinds don't bother me at all!

I have gotten really high quality chain drive rollershades from The Shade Store, but they aren't exactly "budget". My tenant placed a more typical black out roller shade that was "cut-to-fit" probably from a big box store and it works fine.

Does anyone have these blinds? I don't always trust the reviews.

nosoccermom, I've removed all blinds from my home except my bow window. Hate dusting them. I've replaced with curtain and/or shades. Thanks for this; I'll check them out.

I like the idea of the roller blinds from IKEA. Our son had bad allergies when he was very young, & we were advised to use roller shades in his bedroom, so I actually covered some with wallpaper to match his room. I've seen the ones at IKEA & like the looks of them. Those are beautiful windows, btw!!

Gracie I have three of those same blinds in my living room. I've had them for 3-4 years and they're holding up very well. They look nice. No problems. I like them as well as my other 2" faux wood blind from Lowes (Style Selections). I just removed them again recently for a good outside hose cleaning! I don't raise them often but I do open and close the slats daily.

For curtains, I'd look at Ikea first. They're inexpensive and well made.
