I Hate Windows 8!
Comments (10)Long story. Maybe it will make you smile, at my red face experience. I have always used HPs, from the first PC I ever had, which was 20 years ago, until now. They were bought either at Staples or WalMart, off the shelf. This time because I was determined to find a HP with WIN7, I went on line and ordered this one from HP. I asked HP if my present printer and monitor would be compatible. They said the printer would, but the monitor might not and explained why. So I included a new monitor with the order. When it arrived my DGSIL came and set it up for me. During the set up we had a bad thunderstorm and even lost the internet. He left and planned to come back another time. Next day, it was working, except for some fine tuning which I did, so he didn't need to come back, I didn't use the printer for a while, but when I did want to print something I found it didn't work. I contacted HP online and expressed my disappointment with them because my printer didn't work. I received a reply which included a suggestion that I try a xxx cable? I pulled the printer out to look at the connections, only to see that it wasn't even plugged in!! Apparently when DGSIL was hooking up all those cords, he failed to put one back!!. No, it was not HPs fault. I replied to them with a thank you for the information and told them the printer is working. Didn't get into what the problem was. Magic and luis pr, sorry about all the troubles you have had. Have you considered returning them and asking HP to find a WIN7 for you? BTW, my reply from HP was written by someone whose English was obviously not her first language. This is part of our world now. Good luck! Sue...See More'10 Things I Hate About You' TV Show?

Comments (47)Many companies do like gregbradley describes and continue to run Windows 7 across their entire company so that the IT staff only have to install and maintain one version of the operating system. Any newly purchased computers are set up with the desired, stable older version. Then when it makes sense for that company and the risks are well known, they may decide to move to a newer version. Many companies decided to completely avoid Windows 8 since the perceived risks outweighed the perceived benefits. Many companies have decided to continue this approach with Windows 10, at least until the risks and benefits are more clearly known. According to an article I read recently Microsoft has just decided, unilaterally, that henceforth any newly purchased computers (with a processor newer than some arbitrary date) will only be sold with Windows 10. For the companies that prefer to upgrade when it makes sense, Microsoft is essentially saying "F--- you" I may be misremembering or mischaracterizing that article, I'll try to find it again and post a link here....See MoreI hate dressing these windows!!
Comments (38)I really like Annette's suggestion. And the earlier post who stated, "form follows funtion". Regardless of the type of window you have, you have a "function" issue, and so the "form" should follow. You can enjoy your pretty windows from the outside of your home, but the inside issue needs addressed for you to live in your home. I do believe that raising the curtain rods does raise the eye, creating the illusion of height. Using a shade to fill in the space between the panels would allow you to use less panels and have them for effect only (never intending to actually pull them across to shut out the light). You could have a roman shade that is functioning, a motorized shade that you can adjust by remote, or an actual pull shade depending upon your budget and your design preference. Lots of great input from this community. Best wishes for a successful resolution to your issue :)...See Moremikie_gw
