How should we arrange our new couch in our “bowling alley” living room
Comments (11)This is a close up of a tweedy type rug that might work for you - I just think a darker rug will cozy up the area and complement the ottoman so much better.... This rug has been discontinued and the remaining sizes are probably too big for your space, but it might be a direction to be looking, if it appeals to you: Something like this might work, too. I can't tell for sure about the colors but Pottery Barn has samples available in store if there is one near you, refundable deposit when returned:...See MoreLiving Room Furniture Arrangement
Comments (13)Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I had no idea this was a craftsman, so I appreciate you sharing this info! I will check out the Houzz ideabooks. I was able to take some measurements, and included a photo. Any suggestions on where the sofa would look best? If I did the sofa and two chairs, where would the chairs go? @jck910 thank you for talking me out of rushing to the store! I know I likely wouldn't have been happy with the purchase since I still don't have a good vision for the space @apple_pie_order There is a large screened in porch on the other side of the window with the white covering (see attached photo). The porch is the front of our house. The previous owners had green cloth-like drapes over the screens to block out the wind (we will remove those once the snow melts). @decoenthusiaste I've been told the hardwoods under the carpet are in good shape so I definitely plan to rip out the carpet. Unfortunately my husband likes the carpet, so I may have to wait a few years before he'll let me take it out. There are original hardwoods upstairs in a few of the bedrooms and it looks beautiful!! Thanks for the tips on the paint color! You guys are amazing! I'm so thankful for your advice. I really had no idea what to do with this space, but I'm starting to get a few ideas thanks to your help. Any other suggestions are welcomed!...See MorePlease help with living room furniture arrangement - TIA!
Comments (7)IMO if the TV is the focal point remove the FP it is not doing anything for the space and IMO a sofa and 2 chairs would be a better choice for furniture and honestly without measurements of the spaces around this it is hard to get a feel for this space. I think there is no room for a pool table since you require 5’ all around it. I find the easiest way to figure out what fits is to draw a to scale plan on graph paper then go to the drscription of the pieces ypua re planning and cut those out in the same scale adn marked the min. walkwys and paly with the pieces to see what works. in your case the pool table needs space sp start there if the pool table is a must. BTW there is no such thing as a sectional with 4 comfortable seats the only seats that are comfy are the ones with an armrest so 2 seats no matter how big the sectional is....See MoreFurniture Arrangement - Narrow Living Room w/ Corner Fireplace. Comments (3)Ok, so here’s some ideas you may not have though of. Flip flop the dining room with the living. Depending on how your breakfast bar is done, you child just mount the tv there. Build a divider wall on top of the current bar, but leaving it open. In one photo, the tv can spin so someone could watch the tv while in the kitchen. Do a divider wall again on top of the breakfast bar but only go halfway across allowing for the person in the kitchen to still be able to see out. You could have a small divider in between the two rooms perpendicular to the sliders or you could place a lift tv cabinet there. Lots of options-just depends on what will work as far as electrical/cable access....See Moretravisandginam
