When I was younger I only had yellow gold.......now in my old age I prefer white gold with diamonds. I think the light color of the metal accents the stones well instead of the strong contrast of the yellow gold.

If they're the same ring, I'd personally go with white gold.

If they're two totally different rings, being passed down by a family member maybe, I wouldn't worry about it because the stones could always be reset in a different ring.

I would pick white gold. Most of my jewelry is set in yellow gold. I just had a diamond ring re-set and I went with white. Actually it's platinum because we re-designed the setting and in order to reduce the amount of metal we switched to platinum because it's stronger. I find that I'm wearing this ring more than my yellow gold ones.

Same ring. I am a terrible decision maker.

When my friend lost all her hair I sent her a soft felt hat in a dark plum color. Her favorite.

The turned-up brim needed "something" so I added this junktique brooch to it. She loved it and wore it nearly everyday for two years.

At her request, her Mom returned it to me after her funeral. Yes, she requested the hat and brooch to be part of her "going away" outfit for the viewing.

I have a 3 stone diamond ring...in brushed yellow gold.....not so shiny. Another option.

Depends upon your preference! Is this a ring you will wear every day, or is it an "occasional" ring? If it is for every day, let it match the majority of your other frequently worn jewelry...or not! Choose what makes you most happy, and enjoy!

Would rose gold be a possibility? I'm really liking rose gold lately. My wedding ring is yellow gold. But I like white also. Although, cheapo that I am, if I'm going with a silver/white gold look, I would get sterling silver.

I definitely prefer yellow gold, but somehow have mostly white gold.

If I was buying gold it would be yellow. If I wanted "white" it would be platinum.

I like them both. My engagement ring (single stone), wedding band, and anniversary ring with 3 diamonds are all gold. Due to some skin problems have had to quit wearing wide wedding band and the other two go together very nicely. My DH bought me a white and blue diamond ring a few years ago and it's white gold. I wear it on my right hand. I have no problem in mixing metals.

I love yellow gold but it's really personal preference

I would chose by how the ring looked on me. My skin tone always looked better with the cool tones of white or platinum. I am a "winter" and cool shades just look better on me. Other people look better in warmer shades and yellow gold would suit them better.

My wedding/engagement rings are in platinum, so like white gold. But when I was working, for days I thought gold would go better with my outfit, I got a gold wedding band and a ruby ring with diamonds to go with it. So I've worn and enjoyed both. But my preference is for the platinum/white gold as I think it makes the diamonds look less yellow.

But as chloecat says...it's YOUR ring...get whichever you prefer. Both can be lovely.

I've always been a fan of silver and anything that looks silver so I would go with white-gold. My wedding rings however, are yellow gold. They don't match any of my other jewelry.

I'm a yellow gold person -- my Mom was a rose gold one.

Go with what you like. But know that so called "white gold" takes a bit of maintenance. That is what I have and every couple of years I take it in to the jeweler and leave it for a week to be re-plated. It's plated with rhodium, which becomes dull - wears off? - over time. Were I to choose again, I would go with platinum or yellow gold.

Edited to mention the cost - I don't remember exactly but it is at least $100, maybe closer to $150 to be re-plated.

I believe platinum is stronger than gold, and the higher the percentage of gold, the more malleable it is. Seems you pay more for higher karat gold that is less secure!

I have had my white gold wedding ring set for over 46 years and I have never had to have it replated.
