A Bit of Sentiment

Today would have been (or is) my 70th wedding anniversary. We were able to celebrate 57.

Last night I got out and read a packet of letters he wrote me before we were married. I have saved them for my children to read after I am gone. He was stationed at the air base---would take me home and ride the bus back to the base. Then he would write me a letter and give it to me the next time we saw each other, probably within a day or two.

His heart and soul were in those letters and I have treasured them. They meant a great deal to me. When they read them I think our children will see a side of their father that perhaps they never knew. I read them slowly last night as I drank a glass of wine--a rather lonely anniversary celebration.

Would I do it all over again? Absolutely!
