My how the seedlings change
Comments (14)Julia, You have a good eye for size from a picture. The bloom on that 1st pic measured at 7.75"... an official record setter here in our garden. I grow a lot of registerd CVs and here in my Western PA garden I've had only a couple make that size. I really should fertilize them some, but have too much on the plate to fuss over them too much. I do water them when things get too dry. Maybe with a bit more care they would do even better. Thanks to those who took time to check them out. Linda...See MoreOne of my seedlings is blooming :)
Comments (10)another seedling bloomed. Not very thrilling. Not ugly, but boring (to me) a four petaled white rose with greenish stamens in the center (could be the aphids LOL) Marleah Update: my first seedling (pic posted) turned white. Petals sort of reflexed and the bloom is still on the plant. I am enjoying that one, but different than how I thought it was going to be (I was hoping for apricot or golden overtones, but it turned a very crisp white.. almost illuminating)....See MoreJ-105 tree blooming/ seed pod and now the one year old seedlings !!
Comments (11)Hi Gigi!! i am really excited to see what blooms these little guys produce!! They say it takes a few years to see inflos, but I'll keep my fingers crossed!! Keep trying on the twirling!! I have been doing this on and off ( when I think about it). And have one Seedpod developing on my Jackie!! It's growing nicely and I might see another on a special variety.. But I don't want to jinx myself to say right now!! I'll let it get bigger before I let my breath out!! ;-) Here is Jackie that I hand pollinated.. And a picture of the Seedpod!! Dupefl.... I also think Gina has similar traits as J-105. Im Sure they have some of the same DNA since most of those varieties are from seedlings from Penang Peach over in Thailand.. But my thoughts were the same as yours. I believe they are closely related!! They are both beautiful with the dark coloration and the reflexed white border on the petals.. Have a great day!! Comments (16)Hoosier Nan - Damp off and winter kill more seedlings than I grow successfully. I don't have much planting space - especially now that my yard gets shadier each year. Two years ago I planted 25, and most of what you're seeing me post is coming from those. Last year I planted another 25, and five of those have scaped. Out of 30 that are blooming for the first time this year, I have 14 keepers. It's been a really lucky season. Last year I had only one keeper out of seven that bloomed.. I'm trying to downsize so I have room to plant the 90 seedlings I have waiting in Solo cups under the carport. I have a friend who is going to take a dozen daylilies next week, and that will clear space to plant some of them. I also have several raised bed kits that I will be using as space is cleared.
