Organizing the Home Design Dilemma dining room

Need help choosing a dining table!

My dining area and living area are combined as shown in the pic. Currently we have a round dining area with 4 chairs. However, I'd ideally like to have a rectangular/oval table that seats 6 people. I have above 4.5 feet before I hit the window (width) and 9.9ft till the end of the wall to the stairs. Also any ideas on how to create a visual separation between the living room and dining area?

I'm also looking for any suggestions on the type of table to seat 6 people in the given area.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I can't help you choose a table, but a rug under the table (different from the living room) will give you visual separation.

Beautiful table and I think fabric chairs are a perfect choice. With a fabric chair you usually have an exposed leg. You will never match the wood on the chair leg exactly so you just have to pay attention to the style and shade. This is a rustic table so do NOT choose a leg that is formal and polished. Something a bit more rustic and black or gray. There are many to choose from. From there choose a fabric that coordinates with the table surroundings.

I have this Hooker pedestal round table in my kitchen eating area and love the color it is a light/medium walnut....so pretty....the finish on top is indestructible.....I added black chairs with upholstered seat cushion but for your area I would add ivory chairs..so many to choose from painted or upholstered. the 60” fits 6 Chairs very nicely. .

Sorry not getting a feel for this space at all. Waht is that huge indent in the wall for? That spot for dining is going to be horrible seating for anyone except kids Maybe take some pics from further back or a to scale floor plan , anything that gives a better feel for the space

I have similar toned chairs with an RH zinc topped trestle table. The trestle base is a dark grey wood. I bought the chairs after the table and was a little concerned about the orangey faux (in my case) leather. They replaced more traditional velvet slip covered parsons chairs that were too heavily used by messy kids in the pandemic. In the end the orange isn’t an issue - it sort of blends right in.

But, a rug under the table also makes for a hard clean.

When the space is all yours and not used or shared by anyone else, that might not make much difference to you. However, once you invite in a few neighbors, family and the grand kids to sit at a table, you are going to curse that rug under the table.

A square or rectangular table makes better use of space, almost always.

I think a chandelier immediately sets off the dining space. I see you have pot lights, so that should be an easy first step to install.

If your dining table is of a different color/tone/material, that might set things off.

Or, some piece of furniture placed with its back to the dining area (a bookcase, a chair at an angle).
