Whole house color palette and paint advice

I need to paint the whole house, and I need some advice on choosing the color palette and how to combine them. For paint I was thinking Behr Marquue, Behr Premium Plus or Valspar reserve as they come recommended by consumer reports but i am open to suggestions. I am not sure if I need to prime then paint, or just paint. Most of the house is light colors, except one wall in the kitchen which is dark pink, and the master bedroom and bath which are mid tone blue. I would like some grays, maybe blue gray but not green gray ( I don't like green). I attached a photo with the house plan, maybe it will help. The kitchen cabinets and bath vanities are maple (the orangey ones from the 90's) and those will stay. The windows and trims are white.

Both companies claim they have primer in the paint, but if you have to kill a dark color, then I would primer the wall.

Having used both paints, I prefer the Valspar for ease of application, but you will have posters here that claim the same about Behr.

Don't get too blue into the grays. Try to stay more neutral and frankly, there's nothing wrong with a good off white paint for the main body of a home.

I put together some colors, but not sure how they work.

I was thinking Satin Black and silverstone for the master bedroom similar to this picture:

Then silverstone in the master bath and kitchen, Fashion Gray in the second bedroom, Satin Black in the second bath (with light gray/white tile) and graceful gray the rest of the house. Ultra pure white for trims. Do they work?

No it doesn't have to. Private spaces, like bathrooms and bedrooms, can have their own style and palette. However, in public spaces it's a lot harder to mix warm and cool tones or transition between them especially in open concept spaces. If you really want to achieve it consider working with an interior designer.

I would use Teresas green in all the psaces in the main living space then add something different in bedrooms where the color should go with the bedding. But I would also need to see your furniture , your lighting will need to be good LEDs in 4000K range to keep colors true. Wall colr is not decided by just liking a color it needs to work with all the elements in a space since all your rooms are in sight of eachother I would keep it simple if after you live in it for a while you decide to change the DR then do that. I like the Blue gray too BTW but it is up to you to see how color works with your stuf. BTW I would always choose F%B if I could but your painter will need to know how to apply it so make sure they have tha knowledge.

Swatching colors side by side on the old color doesn't really help. You need need white poster board painted the colors you are looking at with a white edge around it. Then you move them around the room during different times of the day to see the color in the space. OR you can order from Samplize to try colors. I would try the Prussian Blue in your rooms as suggested. I think it is going to way to bright.

Similar idea, Wright brown and Swiss coffee in the bedroom, Swiss Coffee in the master bath and kitchen, Perfect Taupe in the second bedroom, Graceful gray the rest of the house the white for trims and ceilings.

My husband is not too thrilled about grays so I tried some color, although we should be painting the house in the idea that we will sell it in a year or two...

For the bedroom I thought maybe Dangerously Elegant and Spun Cotton

Dangerously Elegant also in the small bath, and Spun cotton the master bath and Living, family room and dining.

For the kitchen and laundry Sophisticated teal(my cabinets are the same color as in the picture):

and for the second bedroom Dark Storm cloud.

Too bold for selling?

Doing blue on the walls makes the wood appear more orange

I see a lot of people here recommend colors from Sherwin-Williams. Are those better, or do they have a better color selection?

I recommend Benjamin Moore Regal Select. I know Consumer Reports has ranked Behr higher but in my experience it doesn't go on as well. Behr is thin and splattery. It's possible that CR likes Behr because it's available at Home Depot and you have to go to a speciality paint store to get BM or SW.

When it comes to recommending products, I think Sweethome does a better job than Consumer Reports and their recommendations in different categories more closely fit with my experience. http://thesweethome.com/reviews/best-interior-paint/

As for color selection, all brands have essentially the same color selection.

Ok, paint brand aside I still need to find my colors. Did some more reading and looked at neighbors pictures and it seems that with my honey colored cabinets the best colors are a sage shade or a neutral.

This is a neighbors kitchen, mine is similar but without the counter top and stainless steel appliances. I plan on tearing down the half wall and extend granite over it.

So if I do a sage color in the kitchen what would work in the rest of the house?

I could do a light sage like this

or a gray sage like this one:

but I rather avoid doing greens in the rest of the house as I am not particularly fond of them...

I met with a realtor a few days ago an he suggested we do grays throughout the house. My husband doesn't really like grays( he says he feels like in a bunker) so I am trying to find a middle ground...

Photos of your own house would help. Gray is trending out in some areas. If you are painting for resale in a year, go with a classic off white or light neutral in most areas and a trendy color in the bathrooms or master bedroom.

If you knock out walls, you will have to fix the flooring. Do you have extra flooring set aside or are you planning to redo it?

I have photos of the baths and kitchen in my projects, but everything will be more or less remodeled. I don't plan on tearing down walls, just replace tile in the kitchen and baths, replace countertops in the kitchen (and maybe baths depending on cost), add backsplash in the kitchen, paint the whole house and replace carpet.

BM Edgecomb Gray would be a nice neutral with the oak or BM Nantucket Gray which is a nice sage just get it lightened
