indoor winter projects 2012
Comments (47)I'm hurrying as fast as i can! Not quite half way through - Nynaeve has just gotten Lan's bond from Myrelle. As i read, i'm finding that there are parts of it that i barely remember, almost as if i hadn't read it. Weird. And other parts i remember well. And i've been going to the computer more and more for theories and speculations - names on the Black Ajah list, where the darkfriends are, is Verin Black Ajah? We now know she is, but in the thread i read, everyone said she couldn't be! This was from a few years ago, though. Anyway, enough posting and more reading!...See Moresize of your projects
Comments (0)Hello, my name is pawsitive, I am addicted to cross-stitch. Around 1978 my mom found a x-stitch kit of a Malamute and I was hooked. I started doing things for my daughter, then lots of Christmas, mostly Merry Mouse Christmas, then got interested in wildlife. My biggest project to date is a map of England with head studies of 16 breeds of sheep. It is 32"x36". It is matted and framed but not hung as I have no wall space big enough to handle it that isn't in the sun at least part of the day. I am currently working on one called "Eye of the Tiger". It is a tiger's eye with 2 tiger heads in the iris. LOTS and lots of color changes and it will take me all winter to complete. I am concentrating on doing all the wolf x-stitch I have collected over the years. I have had several photos graphed for x-stitch, some of my dogs and one taken by a professional photographer who charged me a one time fee for use of his photograph of a wolf. I entered it in our local county fair and even tho it is in sepia tones and used 42 colors, they said there was not enough contrast. What???? You have to wonder where they get their judges. I have also done a lot of Ross Originals and have about 6 in my stack waiting to be done. So, what projects are YOU working on?...See MoreWhatever Happened
Comments (4)I agree with you Anne. I pop in every once in awhile to see if anyone has posted anything different but for awhile now this place has been dead. :o( I don't mind the requests for free patterns or site links but the copyright "discussions" of the past have frightend many people away. At one point that was all that was "discussed". I for one would love to see this forum returned to it's past glory. Karen...See MoreWhat crafts projects are YOU working on? Hmmmmmmmmmm.........?
Comments (15)Thanks, nicole and jtc! jtc, no, I tried glycerine and was unhappy with the results; I found that the leaves lost much of their color or turned black. I use the good old fashioned method of pressing them in between the pages of heavy books. They are left for two weeks until completely dry and I then preserve them in resin. Resin is fiddly, fussy stuff, but if you want to preserve your leaves, I would press them first and then spray both sides with a glossy sealer such as Rustoleum clear gloss or the Mod Podge brand or something similar. Lay the leaves on wax paper, spray one side, let it dry overnight and then repeat with the other side. I'd probably spray on two or three coats When completely dry, they could be displayed in a pretty vase/bowl or framed. I'm actually going to do a project like this soon for our bedroom. I bought a very large frame and plan to randomly place leaves on a piece of poster board, mat it and then place the entire thing in the frame. Nice looking floor, Michael!...See Morenicole___
