Name That Plant!

Please help me ID this plant

This plant is in my mother's yard in Southwestern Connecticut. It was planted in front of her fence by a gardener (whom she no longer has contact with). She doesn't know what it is and no one who has seen it can identify it. We love it and I was thinking about planting some in my yard. It does well in shade.

She said she has to trim it at the top every year. Right now it's about 7 feet tall.

Also, I realized I didn't mention that the base is woody with multiple shoots growing up at a low point. It has a discrete base and then broadens out as it grows up. (I don't garden much so I'm afraid I don't know much terminology as far as this goes!)

I think it's privet (Ligustrum).

I had a great Thanksgiving, Mary! The plant does indeed look like an oakleaf hydrangea. The only seeds I've seen were still on the plant, and they had a sort of 'maple' seed look, a thin, papery, wafer thing with a seed in it. I don't know if the seed in the papery covering has a hard shell. My daughter has some oakleaf hydrangeas, and, if I get to her house soon, I'll see if they have any seeds on them. I agree it couldn't be a milkweed, at least not any I'm familiar with. Sherry

Euonymus kiautschovicus 'Manhattan'. It's a very vigorous plant! Needs constant pruning to maintain as hedge. Can sometimes get powdery mildew during humid periods.
