please help me ID this plant

I posted my question and photos on the Milkweed forum but since I know so many members here grow milkweed, thought I'd ask if you would check my message there and see if you can recognize the plant in question. Link to the message is included below. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and thank you for looking.

I had a great Thanksgiving, Mary!

The plant does indeed look like an oakleaf hydrangea. The only seeds I've seen were still on the plant, and they had a sort of 'maple' seed look, a thin, papery, wafer thing with a seed in it. I don't know if the seed in the papery covering has a hard shell. My daughter has some oakleaf hydrangeas, and, if I get to her house soon, I'll see if they have any seeds on them.

I agree it couldn't be a milkweed, at least not any I'm familiar with.

Wow. Haven't been this stumped in a while. Gray aerial roots remind me of orchids, growth habit on new sprouts reminds me of Callisia fragrans/false bromeliad... the more I look at it, the more I think it might be some Callisia relation. Edit: Could you possibly provide photo of the entire plant in the pot?

Also, I realized I didn't mention that the base is woody with multiple shoots growing up at a low point. It has a discrete base and then broadens out as it grows up. (I don't garden much so I'm afraid I don't know much terminology as far as this goes!)

It's a Bidens species. Most are very weedy and many have seeds that attach to clothing.
