I just want to bump this in hope of getting some feedbacks.

How old is the house?

Does the stone wrap all around the main body of the house?

Do you know if it's a veneer or is it actual stone? Is the stucco real stucco on masonry or veneer stucco?

Many houses with this appearance where I live are actual stone and it's difficult and expensive to modify any openings.

Even if you have a house with relatively thin stone veneer you are talking about changing the position of every opening on the front facade, and you'd have to redo the front of the house regardless.

In addition, changing the window position and especially the door position is going to have an impact on the inside and possibly the floor plan. Typically in a house like this the stairs are roughly in position with the front door. If you change the front door to the center it ends up going into a different room and not in the hallway. Your house may have a different layout, but I am talking about what I typically see in this style of house.

You could do any of the things you have mentioned but it's going to be a major project and could possibly involve moving out of the house temporarily. In my area a project like this would be over $100,000.

The house was built in late 60’s and the stone is only in the front where you see it in the picture. It is actual stone. I am not sure about the stucco.

You are correct in that the stairs are as you open the front door but not exactly in front of door but more to the right (when looking in). We will be expanding the hallway/ foyer about
2-3 feet and building new stairs set back a little from the front door.

Currently it is a traditional center hall colonial with a FLR on one left side and DR on
other side. The house will be expanded in the back about 15 feet (upstairs floor
plan will be changed).

We are undertaking a pretty big whole house renovation and replacing roof/ HVAC,
flooring, windows etc. We will also move out while the work is going on.

That is why we were thinking while we are doing all this work, if it is better to change the front too.

Is it cheaper to change whole house to hardie board? Is there a way to do
that without taking out the stone?

$100K just for that is obviously a lot so if changing the look is not possible, does
anyone have a recommendation? I like that symmetrical look so much. So would
like to hear options.

As a part of an entire project, and if you are moving out, if the stone is just on the front, so sort of a veneer, although not thin, I would get an estimate on including changing the front as a part of the entire scope of the project. It will not be as expensive as if the house were actually stone construction.
