Side effects of vinegar?
Comments (18)Posted by strobiculate none (My Page) on Wed, May 29, 13 at 8:27 This is actually a good question, as much for what is not directly asked for as for what is asked. Consider for instance, the relative merits of using a contact herbicide to control a week known for a vigorous and spreading root system. Also known as, good luck with that. If I were to ask about using 2,4-D or glyphosate, there would be no end of people seeking to educate me about the risks inherent in the use of a chemical, even if no apparent risk was observable. Hence, the concept of risk-cup analysis, as if I were unaware of what it was. But since this is an approved 'organic' practice, there is no perceived downside, despite the rather obvious conclusion of what happens when you continuously apply a product with a pH of...what, precisely? to the same area. If idiocy is rampant in the use of chemicals, is it any less rampant in the use of non-chemical chemicals? To be honest, I don't think I can answer the question of any possible side effects. The risk of altering the pH to the point of essentially sterilizing the soil is a very real one, but I don't know under what conditions or for how long it is likely to occur, and I find it a little astonishing that people are not willing to apply the same level of critical thinking to 'organic' practices as they purport to apply to chemicals. Also known as, the modern enigma of science in American culture, or, if you agree with me you are a wise, rational being who thinks clearly and well, if you don't, you are moronic idiot who shouldn't be allowed to reproduce, much less do the Most Evil Thing Ever, which is say something I don't agree with. But at the same time...if I were to package horticultural vinegar in a container that said, Made by Monsanto, how long would it be before vinegar were the new Evil Likely to Control the World? Comments (40)Seven years ago I took an Oxycut wieght loss pill. It set off a panic attack that lasted from February to June. And I mean it was a full fledged attack, racing heart, crying, etc. for five solid motnhs, I lost 30lbs, I could bearly function. I couldn't leave the house and breath at the same time. The paxil got it under control. Paxil was a very good choice at the time. I had tried Buspar with worse effects, the paxil made me feel normal again. Now after seven years, my husband and son comment on how much my personality has changed,I have gained back the weight I lost plus another 40lbs. I have sexual dysfunction and still have a few break through anxiety attacks. I decided to wean off with out telling my doctor. I did it pretty well, as you can see in the above post. Today is day 8. What I didn't realize is that no one was talking about how long it takes to get off. I weaned the way I was supposed to. The withdrawls didn't come until a few days being completely off. I have now found some obscure websites that say it takes 10-25 days/ 2-6 weeks to get rid of all of the withdrawls. Every day gets better,so I don't think I'll be on the longer side, but boy does this suck. The electrical surges, food aversions, stomach problems, dizziness, exhaustion, etc. The side effects are managable. I have not taken anything to ease them. I am making it to work, although I am so exhausted I can't wait to get home. My husband, son and co-workers have been wonderfully supportive. My anxiety has been fine. I can't believe that with today's technology, they have not found medications that do what they are supposed to with out this very addictive quality. I have heard that Paxil is non addictive. I have not read the actual definition of addictive, but if I need to wean off for this amount of time and have withdrawls as long and as intense as I do, I would call it addictive. I have had a decent amount of medical experience, so I think I weanned off well. If you are planing on coming off, talk to your doctor and do it under thier care. Unless something horrible happens, I plan never to go back on this med. If I need more anxiety help, which I probably will (I already do counseling, meditation and healthy eating), I will ask my doctor for a short lived med. Good luck everyone. It is too bad more people do not look at this post, or have a good active blog for Paxil and other meds. The support of smart people who have been through what you have been is priceless. Thank you for everyone who posted here over the past years, I hope my posts help others....See MoreI suspect Metacam side effects--other option(s)?
Comments (47)We almost lost our 15 month old Cockapoo and we fear it was due to this drug 'Metacam'. We brought our dog to the vet with a slightly sore paw, nothing we were overly concerned about as he was putting weight on the foot and in good spirits. Reluctantly we agreed to our dog being given an antibiotic and an injection of Metacam (we felt this was a bit unnecessary but we trusted the vets opinion and that we were doing the best for our dog). That same day the dog was groggy and lethargic. By that same night our dog was groaning with pain so we gave him half a painkiller prescribed by the vet. The next morning our poor dog couldn't move, he lay unresponsive and couldn't lift his body weight upright. He wasn't eating or drinking a thing! If we touched any part of his body he was in severe pain. Our dog is very energetic with a great appetite and we were very worried! We returned to the vet and found our dog was running a very high temperature. The vet was adamant that this was as a result of his sore paw and possible bone infection and was very critical of the dog breed. Our dog was kept in over night and medicated with paracetamol and an IV antibiotic. Within 24hours our dog was returning to normal. The vet insisted we do an x-ray and nothing showed up. Thankfully we were able to discharge our pet after two nights but found the vet very reluctant to talk about what and how much medication he had prescribed our dog. We have no way to ever know for sure the reason our dog fell unresponsive within a couple of hours but we can't shake the feeling that it has a strong connection with the Metacam he was administered on first meeting the vet. We have also noticed our dog's weight is not correct on his medication label - it is double his weight! Finally, when leaving the vet practice with the prescribed medications, the vet had to call us back as he has prescribed double painkiller doses. The vet carried out a blood test without our knowledge and still has not disclosed the result of this blood test. When asked to discuss our concerns the vet became extremely defensive and condescending towards us. We would love to put our minds at ease and find out if any other dog owners experienced this reaction to Metacam or if it sounds like a over dosage of Metacam?...See MoreAcyclovir Side Effects, Anyone?
Comments (4)Thanks for the input. I suppose this could be due to my body being overwhelmed with toxic poisons after seven months of chemo. Doctors started prescribing the anti-herpes Acyclovir years ago, once they saw a 30% and greater incidence of Shingles in patients getting Velcade. I'm told that what I have cannot be Shingles because that is always limited to one quadrant of the body. This sensitivity is across my entire midriff in a 4 - 6 inch band from side to side under my breasts. There is no rash. I don't know of any help for Shingles. My oncologist has prescribed gabapentin. I'm waiting a week to see if halving the Acyclovir to 400 mg will help. (OTOH, I sure don't want to *Get Shingles* because I didn't have enough Acyclovir!) patriciae -- I did look up the side effects. As I said, my four are among the top side effects for Acyclovir -- and none are in the list for Velcade. Yes, *I* too think it IS Shingles, but the MD's say it *can't be*, citing the 'quadrant' rule. I think the best move will be to get off both Velcade and Acyclovir! Evidently that can't happen until I'm seen by the top MM doctor at Northwestern Memorial, who diagnosed the MM in May. My appointment is Feb. 18....See MorePKponder TX Z7B
