adenium obesum in the greenhouse
Comments (4)GG, My only Adenium which didn't shed its leaves in my open structure in San Diego was A. arabicum. The A. obesums always lost their leaves, but, if I understand correctly, if you're able to keep the temps to above 60F all winter they should keep their leaves, although their growth will be slower. These are humidity-liking plants, and, as such, would appreciate those conditions as much as possible, provided there's adequate heat/light to go with that. These are full-sun plants, but if they're not yet acclimated to that, move them into full sun slowly. I'd go dry between waterings. I'd use the wetter greenhouse - and lucky you for having them both....See MoreFirst Ever Flower on a NO-ID Adenium obesum
Comments (4)Thanks, Marie! It has several buds on the plant so I am also hopeful to have an extended blooming period. These photos were taken in better light....See MoreFirst flower from Dimmitt obesum x crispum
Comments (15)That is really something neat. It would be nice to send a copy to Mark and let him see it. I know when he saw Pagans bloom from one of his crosses, he remarked on what an exceptional bloom and intense color. He would probably like to see and atleast comment for you. Comments (5)Thank you everyone :) I was pleasantly surprised by the pointy petals ! I do have another "chandelier" which is from the same batch of seeds, germinated at the same time as this one. It's probably twice as fat, but still quite short - and it has better branching (but I'm not scared of cutting them back to promote this !) Will have to take a photo of them together when I get a few minutes to spare. This is what "chandelier" is supposed to look like, apparently......See MoreManda
